Hi all,
Please can you give me some advice about aspirin. I am 5 1/2 weeks pregnant, and have been taken 75mg aspirin since ec. Do I keep on taking it now I am pregnant - if so how long for. I have left 2 messages for my consultatnt and a message with the fertility nurses and they haven't got back to me for days. I am worrying that I may be harming the baby?????
Hope some of you have some advice for me.

I can understand how concerned you are, if I remember rightly you can take the baby aspirin uptil 12 weeks of your pregnancy. I am 99% sure this is what I was told by my clinic when I was carrying Alex. The reason I had to stop taking it before the 12 weeks was because I had started to bleed and the aspirin does thin the blood. I am sure someone else may be able to offer some more advice for you. Can't you call up the NHS Direct thing and ask them?
If you genuinely need to take it for clotting reasons or something then they advice you to carry on with it until about 30 wks then stop before you give birth!
If you are taking it for that extra support which it sounds like then I would stop now or if you feel like it then at 12 wks - you will not harm the baby but if you don't need to take it then I would gradually wean yourself off it.
good luck

I was told to take asprin when I was pregnant with with Jess ten years ago it was 75mg it was because of my blood pressure they said it would help me not to have a stroke and also stops miscarriage I continued to take it and still do to this day I am now 17 weeks pregnant and have been told to continue with it and also the folic acid throughtout, I also take beta blockers for high blood pressure, they have not done any damage to me or Jess obviously and things haven't changed in ten years so don't worry but still check with doctor to give you peace of mind Cate
Thank you everyone,
I will continue taking it and ask the consultant at my 7 week scan. At least I now know I wont be harming the baby (ies).
