Help

Post by Vikki Bat »

Hi,

Sorry my stories a bit depressing but i feel quite alone. My husband and i started trying for a baby shortly after we got married in 99 but nothing happened, we went to see our consultant and was refered to the Lister Hospital, Chelsea. My first attempt worked atreat and i became pregnant which was really exciting as i never imagined myself getting pregnant. I had a great pregnancy...no problems...loved every minute of it but at 41 weeks (February 2002) something felt odd...i didn't feel poorly or anything i just thought something was wrong...i'd been paranoid throughout my pregnancy. When i arrived at the hospital they could find a heart beat...our little girl didn't make it. I sepnt 14.5 hours in labour and our little girl was beautiful. Although she was only in my lives for a brief time she has changed me forever. My husband and i had an attempt at ivf in May which looking back was way to soon...i only produced a few eggs and and they were at the 2/3 cell stage on day two...on my first attempt i had 12 eggs and the two which were put back in were 3/4.
I'm now in the 2ww of my third go but i had a day 3 transfer and my embyo's were at 8 cell stage....which i'm told is good. After E/C i had period type pains but by e/t they had gone...today day 2 my tummy feels a little uncomfortable..is this normal? Has anyone else had a day 3 transfer and did it work?
I don't think i will be able to cope if this doesn't work i feel really desperate.

Help

Vikki

Hi Vikki

The 2ww is the absolute worst - you try to read every sign in a hope that it will put you out of the misery of waiting. Sorry there is no easy answer.

Your body will have all sorts of strange pains while it is trying to recover what it has been through.

Try and be positive everything went well for you so you stand as good a chance as anyone.

Try not to look too deeply at the embryo quality side of things, its brilliant that yours were good but people on this site get pregnant with poor quality embryos transfered from anything from day 2 to day 5. I have always had good embryos but am still waitng for the miricle of pregnancy to be my turn.

Try and be nice to your self over the next couple of weeks and think positive thoughts.

All the best
Lucyx

Dear Vikki
I am so sorry to hear what you've been through. I'm not surprised you're worrying about every feeling you're getting. You were very brave getting stuck back in again so quickly.

Most of us on this site seem to feel something after all that poking about, in addition to the progesterone we're taking. My first go I had no after-effects, the second time it was awful and felt like I'd strained my stomach muscles. This time I had no pain, but some very light bleeding after e/c which continued a day after e/t. So I think that the embies have fallen out all ready.

I'm now on day 8 of my 2ww and I feel very PMTish, sore boobs, feel the odd twinge like a period pain, re-confirming again that it's game over for me. Like you, I can't imagine how I'm going to cope if this one doesn't work either. It changes your whole outlook on life and your future.

You've nothing to lose by contacting your consultant if you're really worried and think the pain you're feeling isn't 'normal'. At least they could put your mind at rest.

Good luck.
N x
