Using your frozen embryo's

Hi, Myself and DH have just had our 1st attempt of IVF ICSI and sadly it didn't work, we're now back from our hols and home raring to go, although I'm aware you need your body to recover for 3 months until you go again with more treatment but I'm unsure of what happens when you have frozen embryo transfer, can anyone help me?? I was also wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the success rates of frozen embryo transfer, Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help. Love Natalie x

Hi Natalie Sorry to hear about your failed ICSI. Me & hubby will also soon be going through frozen embryo transfer after our first ICSI attempt. We were lucky and got pregnant but sadly baby's heart had stopped at our 11 week scan (3 weeks ago now). I'm not sure of what the treatment involves yet either - we go to hosp on Monday for follow-up appt. so will let you know what I find out. We only have 2 frosties so I'm keeping fingers crossed that both of them thaw out ok so we can have them both transferred (how many have you got?). Sorry I'm not much help but hope we can compare notes on this rollercoaster! Where are you being treated? Take care & good luck, luv Rachel X

Hi Natalie and Rachel I'm sorry to hear your news Rachel, it's just not fair. I also failed 1st IVF/ICSI attempt in August and will be using frozen embies next. I wasn't advised to wait three months though Natalie, in fact my consultant said I could go straight after next proper period but we have decided to go the one after that. I think everyone is different and clinics differ too so it depends on how you feel (and how much money you have!). How many embies have you got Natalie? I've got 3 but one is not as strong as the others so they think I will end up with two. At the consultation meeting they explained that there are two ways of using frozens, firstly with natural cycle, phone 1st day of period and they scan 8 days later and every other day after that to see when a natural follicle is big enough then put embies in around mid month and support you with pessaries or injections for 2 weeks. Secondly, can have hrt drugs to ensure your lining is thick enough before et. I am trying 'naturally' first then if at scan lining doesn't look good enough will abandon and go with hrt following month. I get conflicting reports on success. My consultant said same as with normal ivf/icsi but by Prof Winston book says less chance so not sure. I think the less chance comes from them making it through the thawing process but the same chance of implanting if they survive that but not really sure. Hello Rachel and Sandra, thanks so much for your replies I really appreciate it sorry it's taken so long for me to reply but I work away from home and only got back this morning. I'm very interested to hear that your consultant said you needn't wait 3 months, when I go for my appointment on October 15th I'll see if I can get around this. We're being treated at Barts in London, we were lucky enough to have our 1st go on NHS and that was there recommendation but DH and I will look around at the top best hospitals if the frosties dont work. We have 4 frozen by the way. Well thanks again for replying it's such a comfort to know there are otheres in the same boat as me, I wish you both lots of luck and look forward to hearing from you soon. LOL Natalie x

Hello Rachel and Sandra S, I haven't posted a message for a while I'm back at work and am really busy, it's amazing how you get back into the old routine after having such a knock back. I was wondering how you both are doing and if you'd had any news on using your frosties, my appointment isn't until the 15th October hubby and I would like to use the frosties before Christmas so if it all fails then at least we can start a fresh in the New Year. I have made an appointment to see an accupuncturist on the 10th Ocotber apparently this particular one focuses on infertility, have either of you been taking or doing anything to try and increase your chances?? Hi Glad to hear you are getting on with things. I think work can be a God send at times like this! I won't be starting again until 8 days after my next period so should be around 29 October with ET around 4 November. I'm not really doing anything different - have been taking multivitamins and aspirin for some time now but will start cutting back on the old wine again now in readiness! Would be interested to hear how you get on with the acupuncturist though as I might give it a go. Let me know and keep us posted on your appointment etc. Love Sandra X
