Afternoon Ladies,

Thankyou for the welcome, Sorry not to have replied a little sooner but a very hectic and busy week this week, cant wait to finish work on Thursday and dont go back till 4th Jan.

Kel, Hope the swim and spa with DH was nice beats christmas shopping any day !! Think i could do with something like that to chill out.
Christine, I was the same couldnt wait to get started then when the time arrived was very nervous but i didnt need to have been, im very impatient and now cant wait to be on the stimms. 6th Jan will be here before you know it, Good Luck.
Claire, I see you are having treatment in Manchester aswell, Good Luck on the 10th Jan.
Staci, I did a medicated FET, i couldnt do a natural FET because my LH didnt surge apparently so had to wait an extra month to do the medicated FET i cant remember what my protocol was exactly but i know it was a lot less stressful than a fresh cycle, You start your bcps on the 29th the day i go for my scan, Look forward to cycling with you.
Elizabeth-Anne, Good Luck to you when you start your cycle.
Jane R, Good Luck on your FET
Cath, Good Luck on your FET also.

Looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better, I hope i havent missed anybody out im not very good at keeping up with everybody and doing personal messages but im trying (DH would prob say very trying at the min as the downregging is making me ***** from hell woman !!)

Must go and do some more work now,
Spk soon

I'm starting Jan 8th. This is my second attempt. THe first time I produced seven eggs but only one fertilsed and was -ve.

I found this site helped last time.

I do have an eleven year old son and starting trying for another when he was 18mths old but had an ectopic in 1996 and took until 2003 to decide to try IVF.

Hope I can join as a jan buddy

Hi Ladies

Can I join as a january cycle buddy. I was supposed to be December but have not been responding to the down regging so now on 2 injections a day hoping I will be ready to move onto next stage at my scan next Tuesday.

I am doing a FET which should (hopefully) now take place around the middle of January.

Hope to catch up with you all better soon.

Hi everyone....

I'm not sure if I can be a January buddy... But i'll be starting my Gonal (?) injections today for 5 days, then scheduled for a scan & blood test on 27th Dec. This is the very first time I'm doing this.

I'm a POFer and my gynae doesn't encourage me to do it as she is doubtful that I can produce my own eggs. So hopefully with the high dosage she said she's giving me, my body will react accordingly. Otherwise, the whole procedure will be terminated....

g'day girls!!
wow, its all happening for everyone - its exciting and im soooo wrapt i have u guys its so over whelming and family & friends just dont quite get it!
im so new to this and the abbreviations and lingo! so would i be 'downregging' once i start the pill? (my period (is that AF?) is due chrissy day - oh joy)

kel,
wow perth!! how long were u in oz for? im from melbourne! i've never been to perth but its on my agenda! the weather is weird in melbourne.. last saturday we had the air conditioning on - it was about 35 degrees but then come sunday i was freezing so put the heater on but thats typical of melb weather!
i'll be moving to the uk at the end of march! (have to be in ireland before 7th april coz thats when im seeing kylie minogue in concert oh im so excited!! (i know, im a dag!) i'll be staying in ireland for awhile - the business plan is about 3yrs!! everythings happening next year yikes! so it means i get one cycle in before i go overseas... we'll come back at the end of november and spend summer here coz i've heard how cold your winters get and do another couple of cycles if the other one didnt work. i've also looked into a couple of clinics in ireland and theyve sent me all the info and they look good so we'll go with the flow so to speak..

staci,
whoa 3 or 4??? that sounds like a lot??!! i think i might still go for the 2.. some friends have been thru ivf and have had 2 put in twice and had singletons both times plus i wouldnt mind having twins! :)
as for how many days of transfer i have no idea - im so new to it all and i find myself just sitting in his office and the words he speaks just go over my head! is there a difference? what happens? i see his ivf nurse mid jan.. oh im getting nervous again!!

cant wait to get back online to read up on everyone again! yay!
take care,
d x

Hi Girls,

Can I join you too. I'm starting IVF #2 in Jan. Will have a scan at the end of this month and start meds soon after.

I had IVF #1 in Nov. Was very excited and optimistic as I had 2 five day blasts transfered but got a faint positive for a day and then AF.

Finding it hard to deal with the emotional ups and downs of IF and the board is a huge source of support for me.

Why is the whole world either pregnant or has just had a baby. Bah Humbug..................

4 failed Clomid/IUI's, 1 failed IVF. IVF 2 + pregnant with twins!

How is everyone? It's been very quiet on here!

Wendy,

Did you go in for your scan? Have you started your tablets yet?

I'm on Day 2 of downregging. I go in for a scan Jan. 7 and will hopefully find out that it has worked. I'm a little relieved to have finally gotten started.

Danica,

Regarding the 3 or 5 day transfer....

Basically, if you do a 5 day, the embryos have longer to develop and the belief is that the weak embryos (ones which probably wouldn't have implanted) won't make it whereas the strong ones will continue developing cells and become what they call blastocysts. Basically, it narrows things down so that they can implant the best embryos and it is especially good if one is looking to only put back one or two and when one has a large number of embryos to work with.

In a 3 day transfer, there's a little less knowledge about the embryos. To tell you the truth, the Dr. at my clinic who did my EC made the decision to go to 5 days with me but then the Dr. who did my transfer told me that he would have done a 3 day transfer and thinks those are better (as you can imagine, that wasn't what I was looking to hear at the time...esp. since he was the founder of the clinic)! His belief is that, however good a clinic's solution might be, it still doesn't exactly mimic nature so some embryos might have actually made it in the womb even though they didn't in the solution. Anyway, hope that helps some!

Best wishes to all of you for a Happy New Year!!

Hi alison

No need to feel alone sure there will be lots more of us on here in the next week or so.

I am due to start my bureslin injections on the 6th.

I am now very anxious as the time is approaching as this is my very first time at Ivf. Will be on here loads after thursday I am sure.

Hope you are ok and managing to keep sane.

Do you know if once you start injections etc you are allowed to have a alcholic drink. I have a party on saturday and not sure. i feel really silly asking this obviously more important things but just needed to ask for piece of mind.

Take care

Hello Girls,
Please may i join as well i can't believe that there is so many of us.Lets hope that January is going to be a lucky month for all of us.We decided to take a year out as we had 3 full IVF's and 3 frozen IVF's in a short space and it does tend to take over your life.We have also changed hospitals and now are trying the Lister Hospital and also Genetic Screening as we need to know that we have tried everything and have had every possible test going and i also had one tube removed in October. So hopefully we are now ready to try again.I started injecting Thursday 30th December and will go for a scan either Friday or Monday depending when AF arrives.
Hope everyone is well and lets hope for lots of good news to start the year off with.
Lot's of good luck wishes to eveyone.
Love,
Nicky

Christine, re. your alcohol question, it's personal choice. Some people like to carry on (generally in moderation), others feel better if they abstain completely. There's nothing to say that one glass of wine will do your chances any harm at all but as I said, many people like to feel they're doing as much as possible to prepare for pregnancy and so stop drinking.

Good luck to all you January girlies.
Debra.
