Hi all - sorry haven't posted for a bit - been moving house - HECTIC or what! - so havent had chance to post. Glad to hear that 3rd trimester buddies doing well
Question for you.....had check up today - doctor says I'm only measuring 35 weeks when he meaasures my bump (am 37 weeks 1 day) - he said baby could be quite small (c7 pounds). Also I have a little protein in my urine.
He seem quite relaxed but wants to see me next week. Which he didn't before.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! Panicing a bit. Has anyone else's bump measured a bit small? whats the protein about?? I do seem to have stopped putting weight on as well - is that normal?? Has the baby stopped growing or something?
Feel an IDIOT for leaving the hospital without being reassured about it all - but its playing on my mind a bit now. Am just so worried that something could be wrong. As I say the doctor did seem pretty relaxed although did tell me I should make sure I count kicks every day....which of course I'm over anaylsing why he chose to say that too!!
Hi Caz
Sorry I cant help you as I've always been measuring bigger than what I am.
Try not to worry as I'm sure the dr would have done something if he was worried.
Hope you have a brill xmas and new year.
Love gemxxxx
Hi Caz,
I havent posted for ages but I too had a smaller than the number of weeks measurement one week and then bigger than the week number the following week! Two different people took the measurements and I dont think the guy who did the smaller one held the tape measure low enough(bit shy maybe!!) Also the midwife who did it the following week said that if the baby was lying off centre but you feel for the height of fundus straight up then this would give a lower reading. Im just guessing that you are also referring to height of fundus when you refer to the baby size? and not an actual scan.
I dont know about protein in urine but I do recall them upping appointments to weekly at around the same time as a routine thing. Personally I think that the measurement of the bump must be fairly inaccurate and surely as the baby engages into your pelvis readings will go down??? i cant see how suggesting that the baby might be small could possibly be the first/ only reason for a slightly low bump measurement on one occassion. Im now 5 days overdue and still finding things to panic about myself, I hope some of this helps

Caz, please don't worry. My bump has always been smaller than the dates and she's fine (see separate topic). If your baby is 7 pounds then that's a pretty reasonable weight. If your doctor was worried he would have referred you to hospital.
Babies slow down at the end as there is less room for them to move. Protein in your urine could mean a number of things. It sometimes is a sign of pre-eclampsia but if you have no other symptoms then it may just be a 'blip'. If you are really worried, call your midwife or hospital for peace of mind.
thanks ladies
Am seeing doctor this afternoon (routine check up) - so hopefully all will be well. I spoke to him on Christmas eve as I got myself into right on stew - and he did calm me down a bit!!
Never stops does it?!
Best
....and thanks!!
Cazx
ps - Fiona - am seriously blown away that you answered my mail when you've just had a baby!! AWESOME!
Please try not to worry - protein in urine is not uncommon at this stage - I had it too and then the next time was fine. Might be a slight infection which mine was - remember I had antibiotics 3 days before going in? Nothing to even worry about. As for size - baby sounds fine and the scans have all been fine - probably just the way it's lying and after all 7lb is fine as Fiona will tell you with hers at over 4lb. The reason he has called you back is just to keep an eye on you - imagine if they didn't - just being safe - you are very close now - not long I reckon - give it 10 days max I think!
Take care and good luck

Hi Caz,
I hope all is well with you! the others are right these signs do not sound too scary although it's good they are keeping an eye on you! One of my babies, nadia was born very small - 1865 grams but she only needed feeding and extra warmth for 10 days and now she is more than fine, growing well and showing quite a character as the little fighter she is! But I don't think yours will even be anywhere near this small! Good luck and looking foward to hearing how things go with you!
