Hi, I just wanted to say Hi and hope that all your Christmases were wonderful with your babies. Mine was. Maya is 19m and so deeply interested in parcels, tearing paper and squealing at the contents. She left the tree alone (a miracle!) but cooed and oohed every morning at it. She is the first g'child on DF's side, and the only g'daughter on my side, aka, she's a much loved, very indulged little girl. Perfect!!!!! The list of her favourite items would be too long and boring but her toboggan has been out and about, although at minus 12 it's a bit too cold. She got some great presents that will keep her busy for months.
I found it all very emotional. I got tearful a lot, I look at her and just well up with happiness. I know we all do.
Know what you mean Debra. This is the Christmas that we have dreamed of for years .... this is what it finally feels like to be parents at christmas - we are so amazed and so grateful and thankful.
Alice at 9 months is well aware that something special is happening - she has clapped her little pudgy hands at everything and loved all the extra attention from her adoring fans !!!
She has had loads of toys from relatives but played most with a 97p set of plastic coloured stacking cups from Ikea !! Lots of photos - thank goodness digital cameras have been invented !!!
Jo, so glad you all had a great Christmas. Don't you just love that pudginess at this age???
The Ikea stacking cups were HUGELY popular in this house too, we bought two sets as the games were endless. If Alice likes stacking, have you seen Ikea's coloured boxes? There are several types, we bought the cardboard circlular ones. I think there are 10 and probably intended for gifts/wrapping etc. There's a square set too. Maya loved pulling the lids off and peeping inside. Russian Dolls are our current big thing, same idea just more complicated!!
jo if you have a dig cammera then you better get your hubbys but in gear and get them e-mailed to me
or else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cant wait to see her.
i am glad that you finaly had your christmas
love becky
we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives
and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!
I'm feeling a bit sad now as we packed the decorations away tonight and threw the tree over the balcony (DF then had to run through the snow to drag it to the side of the road for the special collection tomorrow). This Christmas was so much better than I'd expected. I've loved switching on the lights then bringing Maya through each day and hearing her say 'wow' (a new word). Not sure she knows what it means but she knows when to use it - if that makes sense. Two of her little friends use it so she picked it up from them. We also hid tiny little birds amongst the branches and so she's learned the word 'bird' too...before she only said 'peep peep'.
I can't wait for next Christmas...I'm not wishing this year away, it will be great, but I'm already looking forward to seeing her face when a new tree appears. We're hoping to move in the spring so maybe we can have a 2m tree next year.
Her nursery school held what's called a 'Christmas Tree Party' this afternoon (Sunday) and it was lovely. Just lots of squealing, over excited toddlers in their best clothes, eating cakes and stuff, then linking hands and walking around the tree singing. Maya loved it all and clapped wildly at the end of each song. I got emotional - again. We had to leave before Santa's last appearance of the year as she was so exhausted, but I don't like real Santas so I didn't really mind!
It's been a wonderful Christmas for us. Long may they last.
