Hi Beck,

I'm due to start injecting the down-regging drugs from Sept 6 and Jules is about 5 days ahead of me - on Sunday I think, so you're not too far behind us.

Don't worry about your 1st cycle - I found doing it wasn't half as bad as the anticipation of doing it. A bit like falling off a horse really (which I managed to do on my 5th riding lesson last weekend and was so pleased because I now know it isn't quite so scary as I'd thought!)

So keep in touch and we'll 'hold your hand'.

Take Care

Fiona xx

Hi Beck

I'm starting to down reg this Sunday the 1st, as Fiona says. This is my second time round, and I'm sniffing Syranel as I did last time. Have you got a date scheduled for egg collection? Mine's 30th Sept.

Don' t worry too much about your first cycle, you're never alone on this site!

Take care and keep in touch

Jules xxx
Hi Beck,

I too am starting IVF No.2 around 20th Sept, so not too far apart. However, this time I am not down regulating as the protocol I have been put on requires only stimulating drugs - so good for me not having to inject for so long!!!

Don't worry about doing IVF, it really isn't as bad as you think it might be. I was a little freaked out when I saw all the needles and drugs for the first time, but the time goes so quickly and before you know it you will be in the 2WW, which in my opinion is FAR worse!!!

It will be nice to have a cycle buddy.
Lisa

Hello beck...

Hope it all goes smoothly for you this week, the first injection is always the worst....you get the sweaty, shaky hands but after a while it becomes so routine, you won't even think about it!!

I got my AF at last so start down regging on the 19th (my day 19 is on the 19th, good timing eh?) so I'll be right behind you, am unsure of exact date for egg collection doc says it depends on how I react to all the drugs.

Like you am v.nervous, exited etc. actually Im not quite sure how I feel but I know I just want to get on with it.
My DH is very matter of fact about it all....hows yours coping?

Take care of yourself beck,
Helen xx
Hi everyone,

I'm back from a wonderful holiday and break - straight into dreadful company meetings - yeuckkkk! So sorry for delay in posting.

Well had to really relax on holiday cos car broke down and we had to be towed back by the RAC a day early so would be OK to go for scan for go ahead to start down-regging - but we both feel really refreshed and ready to take on the world, never mind the IVF rollercoaster. Dh even quite excited at thought this could be our lucky time.

So, been injecting for 7 days now and feeling fine - taking Clarityn again so don't have allergic reaction to Buserelin, and having fewer hot flushes than first time. Clinic told us NHS have banned GPs paying for fertility drugs in our area - but we've just acted ignorant, and the prescriptions have been signed so not getting too annoyed about this yet. I keep all my drugs in the fridge.

I think the idea of the condoms Beck is just to remove any risk, however slight, of falling pregnant naturally whilst on these nasty drugs - or when could have loads more than three eggs fertilised at once. The mind boggles at the thought of that multiple birth. I guess the other thing is to reduce the risk of infection also. Best just making the most of it - although I refuse to use curry flavoured ones!

Take Care

Fiona xxxxxx

[Edited by fiona_lk on 12-Sep-02 13:21]

So my last herbs will be on Tues.

I had the worst migraine on Thurs and yest. Was so bad last night just had to lie down in the dark. Not sure if it was the tail end of AF or the Syranel. Hello girls,
Hope everyone is ok?
I am just waiting to get going now, I have a scan Thurs am and then its all go! I will be taking provera tablets from Thurs, then start sniffing on Sunday.
I'm allready starting to wish my life away, everytime I chat to the girls at work it's like "well it'll all be over by the end of October, and we can move on"...deep down though I know it will be a long time before it will all be over. Coz I'll either be pregnant (please, please, please) or not and feeling like hell for a while.
This will be our only shot at IVF for a long time, we just cannot afford it, so its quite important.
My mum has given us a huge lump of cash to pay for the IVF/ICSI and we are having to tighten our belts considerably to pay for the drugs, our dr's were going to help, but the partnership changed hands and they have no spare funds....the sad fact is that if we lived just 7 miles west we would get 2 IVF's on the NHS!!!
Anyway girls I won't be gloomy, I'll be sending you all positive vibes....please send a few my way....you all take care.
Love Helen xxx
