Hi Guys Just thought I'd let you know that we've had a hosp appointment today and they are going to induced me on friday,I had a sweep done this morning and everything looked fine but bubs was still quite back, the consulant did say because I'm having a big baby and as weve took so long in getting pg he said I could have a section as theres a chance the baby's shoulders could get stuck but it was my choice!! I didnt knwo what to pick as my midwife had always told me that they would always start you off naturally then do a section if needed but I think teh dr was jsut being cautious as weve had ivf and its a very precious baby I asked him what would his advice be and I'd do waht ever was best for the baby and he said it was really my decision as tehy are risksfor both,so I decided to have my water broken and see how I progress and if teh baby doesnt progress down much then before it got to the shoulders getting stuck stage I would have a section so it is wrote in my notes to have a sections is progress is slow or theres problems with hb,but now I 'm writing this at 2.30am worried that I made the wrong decision and I should have said yes to a straight section why did he have to give me the chioce I'd rather be told what to do by teh professionals,so now do I phone the labour ward today and say I'm really worried and I'd like to have a section just incase I need to go in any later or jsut turn up on fri at 7am and tell them I want a section and hopefully they wil fit me in or jsut have my waters broken and give it a few hrs to see how I progress and if baby isnt moving down then have a section,dr said I would have to have a epidural as teh baby is big.which I wanted to avoid but now I just want my baby in my arms and to know everyting is ok.
dh is worried now as he said the dr scared him about the baby's shoulders egtting stuck.
Sorry for rambling on I feel abit better by just writing it all down rather then have everything go round and round my head.

Good luck to you with your decisions and birth! With my daughter, I went into the hospital saying I was in labor, they checked me and told me to go home as I was only dialated 1cm. I told them to go get the Dr. because I was already 10 days late and wasn't leaving.
So they break my water, give me patosin (spelling?), and an epidural. 27 hours later I had a C-Section because my daughter was too big to have. So maybe if the baby is really big, the shoulders won't even get to the point of being stuck because the baby can't drop? Mine didn't anyway. I ended up having a 10.8 lb girl via C-Section. The doctor was like, no wonder you wouldn't dialate.
My Dr. this time around is just scheduling the C-Section at 39 weeks. She said that there are risks both ways, but with a C-Section the risk is more of infection for the Mother, and that with a "normal" delivery the risk is more for the baby getting stuck and being without oxygen. She said with the size of my first baby, I'd probably have to end up having a C-section anyway so why bother with labor? I agreed.
The very best of luck for Friday. Please try not to worry about whether you have made the right decision. I'm sure that if there are any problems at all with your labour the drs will not take any risks with the baby and will decide, with you, what to do. They put the baby's health first too.
Just think, it won't be long before you are gazing down at your own little miracle.
Will be thinking of you. Let us know how you get on.
Hi Gem
Being induced is really totally fine (I was)- but just be prepared that you have no "warm up" so when labour starts (mine started as soonas my waters broke) its hurt ALOT and quickly - so get yourself an epidural - it WILL NOT stop you pushing and makes the whole thing alot less stressful - let me tell you.....the hard work starts when you get home!!
I would imagine that it would be even harder if you havea c section to deal with as well - but then I know lots of people who are just fine after C section.
Noone would think any less of you if you decided to go for C section - at least then you know where you stand -and after all you just want a healthy baby at the end of the day dont you.
Tough to have to make the decision - I sort of did too - and you really want them just to tell you!! ON the bright side -be assured that if there was ANY emergency about it then they wouldn't let you make any decisions.
Either way by friday night you'll be holing you little cargo - you WONT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Good luck -will be thinking of you. Don't worry about it at all, babies very rarely get stuck and they all sorts of clever ways to eek them out if they do - but GO FOR THE EPIDURAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friday!! how exciting, you'll soon be holding your precious little baby. i'm so happy for you and dh, its a really special time. i'm sure other would agree that just before the baby arrives is really scary and so you might requestion any decision you'd make right now. go with your instinct. , will be thinking of you.
