Bleeding...

Post by Lana »

Hi everyone.
Just got a BFP!!! Will be 6 weeks on Tues 11 Jan. First scan will be on 18th! But I'm not sure what's going on with my body. Firstly, I'm very bloated and EXHAUSTED by 4pm. I'm also having waves of nausea and dizzy spells. That's the good news. The bad is that I have had two bleeds so far. I am feeling a little crampy - general cramps and not severe - but uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this and been ok? I am so scared of miscarrying...so desperately want this baby...
Happy 2005 to all!

I was told that ALOT of people bleed and cramp and are totally fine -I think its the embryo implanting and the uterus changing - you will get ALOT of weird pains and symptoms over the next few months....try not to worry!

Take care

Lana, I'm following you around the boards lol!

I bled on and off for 4 days when I was 14 weeks. I was sufficiently worried that it hadn't stopped to go to the hosp and had a scan. Everything was fine and it stopped very soon afterwards - athough this was just coincidence, they didn't do anything as there was no cause found.

I know lots and lots of people bleed, but that doesn't make it any less scary but maybe just keep a check that it doesn't change colour, texture, flow etc. If it changes, call the doctor.

Hi Lana!
From what I've been told bleeding is not uncommon. I'm only 5 weeks and had bleeding for 4 days with some cramping. My levels continued to go up, so in that regard things look good. But until I have my first scan they can't really say if everything is truly okay in there.

As DebraP mentioned ... make a note of how much you're bleeding and cramping, as well as the color, clots, etc. And definitely let your doctor know. My doctor checked my levels twice after the bleeding stopped, so that helped calm my nerves. Maybe yours will do the same? I'm still anxiously awaiting my scan, and trying to keep a cool head.

Hang in there! Keep telling yourself that many women have bleeding and go on to have a normal pregnancy.

brown blood is old blood...
for your own mind ask for a scan. it is always a good excuse to get an extra look at your baby..
but bleeding is very normal more women do then dont. put your feet up and enjoy being pregnant

Lana -
I'm in a similar place as you are - this past week when I was at 5 weeks I started to spot. I called the office and they offered for me to come in for an ultrasound but warned me that it was too early to see much. I did go in and they did find a heartbeat (5w5d). It was reassuring - but unfortunately the spotting still hasn't stopped - so it's something I am just having to deal with. I have read as much as I can on the internet regarding women experiencing spotting (seems like it oftens begins at 5-6weeks) and my own conclusion is that while half the time it means nothing (some say that IVF makes it more common) and everything is okay... but still it is better not to spot. You should contact the office and let them know - and if you think a ultrasound will help de-stress you - you should ask for that as well. (I am taking it easy and trying to eat right - my next u/s will be on the 12th.) Good luck - hope your spotting stops.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all your replies! I did go for more bloods - prog, E2 and Beta. Dr was happy with the levels and said it could be inplantation bleeding - possibly twins. The levels don't indicate twins, but they said that that could mean nothing. They won't scan me, saying that it's too early (i'm 6 weeks tomorrow) and that will just worry me even more. My scan is booked for next week. It makes me feel a WHOLE lot better knowing that there are other people out there going through the EXACT same thing as me at the EXACT same time! Thank you!

I hope that all of you are feeling VERY nauseous, very tired and very bloated!!!!

Hi Lana,

It is difficult not to worry after everything we go through to get to a BFP. I also had spotting when I was about 6 weeks, they checked all my bloods etc and everything was fine. They gave me an ultrasound and although at that stage there wasn't a heartbeat (too early) there was two sacs. The blood turned out to be implantation bleeding which is a bit more prominent in twins. It did stop after a while and I am now 36 weeks with twins and hoping to deliver soon.

Good luck and always stay positive.

miscarriage

Post by Lana »

Hi all,
Sad news...
Called clinic last night to tell them that something is seriously wrong. They scanned me today and I've had a msicarriage. There was no sac ... nothing. Am feeling terribly down. Crying the whole day. Just in agony and can't seem to feel anything but pain. :( The worst part is knowing that now we are facing ANOTHER treatment ... it's not like with "normal" people who miscarry and then try again a month later and within a few months ...BFP!
Take care..

Hi,
Just to update this board...
I was scanned again on thurs (13 Jan) cos my Beta continued to rise. Found my baby had implanted in the Right Fallopian tube, i.e. Ectopic. There was a heartbeat, which was easily seen. Feel haunted by that little flickering. Obviously had to remove the foetus ASAP so had a lapscope later that morning. Now have to wait and see if there's tubal damage. Did a whole lot of ranting on the General forum earlier.
So...I now have to think about whether I'm able to go through this again, emotionally. Sending all your bellies a ray of warm and healing light!
