Any one else starting a shortie protocol next week?

Post by KarenSmiff »

Hi everyone

Havent been on this site for ages, since suffering a miscarriage last May, tried to forget about baby making for a few months (while we saved our pennies). December was a weird time for us as it was due 10th, but now that day as been and gone we feel a lot better. Now its time again to crack the wip! I am starting a short protocol next weds approx, so ec approx 3.5 weeks..yikes, is that all!

Preying this time works, but then aren't we all.

Any one got any tips for producing a substantial amount of eggies? My ovaries are damn lazy and only let 4 maximum out to play, but the consultant said as I fell pregnant once, (with one 2 cell embie !!) I will fall again. Fingers crossed. Ive given up on alcohol since new year, and dont smoke, trying to eat Organic where at all possible, and loadsa veggies/fruit. No tap water, only bottled.. I'll also be starting the small aspirin from day 1 of drugs. Any other tips?

Good Luck to EVERYONE

Hi Karen, I remember you from last year. I'm still here, wittering on

From reading some of the January buddies' posts they're not due to start until late Jan so will definitely continues into February. You could always start a new Feb thread - I think someone did one back in Decmber and it's rolled away now!

Good luck
Debra.

Hi Karen ... of course you need to be taking the old Folic acid, and making sure you get plenty of protein down you, especially during the week after EC (according to a book by Zita West, midwife) when the embies are snuggling down for 9 months. :) I also take an Omega-3 fish oil supplement. Don't know if it does any good, but it makes me feel better psychologically.

Hi Karen,

Haven't been on this board for a long time - but if it helps at all - we seem to have similar experiences.

I have had 4 IVFs with a +ve and m/c and about to start a short protocol with a different clinic. I too have responded differently, sometimes poorly. The first time I had an amazing 8 eggs and 5 embies (-ve) next, it was all abandoned, next only 4 eggs and 3 embies stuffed back. Pregnant - then m/c. The last time was horrendous - only 2 eggs. ALL of these were done the standard protocol. So we swapped to a clinic in Sheffield, and they have a really good success rate, and only do short protocol to "ladies over 35". I am now 39 and a half (Yikes) - so keeping fingers crossed.

It is SO hard, because I think there is absolutely nothing one can do. Simply relax and hopefully short protocol, by virtue of tracking your ovulation etc. will do the trick - at least produce flippin' eggs! Pregnancy and hanging on to it is another matter.

Good Luck, and let me know how things are. Have you started on the brown and white wee tablets yet?
Nicky

Nicky

Hiya, Brown and White wee tabs?? Aint gotta clue what they are. I just start burserelin day 1 of period, then on day 3 - 5 amps of menopur. Until about day 15 I think, then EC, please god! My first ever cycle (which I think is a tester for everyone), was a long protocol, and at first scan, there were only two frigging follies! hence abandoned cycle. I saw my consultant about 4 weeks ago, and he cant figure out why they cant get many eggies out of me?? asked whether I had emdooosstrois (sorry cant spell) But as far as I know I havent??? He said I am young! which pleased me, but fsh highish ...11 then 9.2.

Theres hope for us yet....that 59 year old had another son with ONE FROZEN EMBRYO,........If she can...we can! Thats two IVF babes shes had. :)

Hya Karen,

Sorry not to reply sooner. I didn't receive an email to say that you had responded.

The brown and white tabs are in fact HRT!!!!!!! MMMMMM!

I was asked to tell the clinic when I had ovulated... then a week later they sent me very detailed notes telling me to take a mixture of brown and white tabs... One brown at 8am and t'other white at 8pm - ON THE DOT..(Important to get this hormone thing right..)

The reason behind it that cos I am 10.3 FSH - I think this HRT stuff is to try and lower things, and hence get me to lay a few more eggs.

It is the first time for me at this clinic, but I trust they know what they are doing, as it was recommended by a colleague.

Well, we shall watch this space. I hope you are surviving the busrlin. Will do that in a couple of weeks, so probably a bit behind you.

Gawd, we both need to get out of this hellish tunnel of life! It is simply one marathon too far.

Good to talk and let off steam. Do you find that since you have got pregnant you feel obliged to keep trying, cos 'they' come on so positive? Good sign etc.. in spite of low egg count?

Take care, rest up - My GP couldn't emphasise that enough.
Bye for now, speak soon,
Nicky :P
