Hello Paige and Alicia and all
I don't know anything or anyone with the gestational diabetes thing ask me anything on pre eclampsia and I'm right there but g dibetes?? let me know how it goes? why does it happen in pregnancy or do you have diabetes in the family??
Alicia the scan thing God it never ends does it? just start to relax and enjoy things and they find something or nothing to frighten the life out of you, I'm sure the woman (who forgot to take picture last time) practised making scary puzzled faces in the mirror at my scan last time let me know how it goes hopefully they will do another scan soon to put your mind at ease.
My next scan is 27th Jan and the last one was 30th Dec it's more often because of checking baby size etc etc etc Although on a bright note when I saw midwife and they did the measurening tape measure thing from bone up to somewhere on your stomach it was 23cms and it was in fact 23 weeks so all looks well. I remember that with Jess the measuring thing and being amazed because it wouldn't work in Imperial !!!????Who noticed do you think???
I went out last night to Penny lane wine bar with friends indulged in glass of Guiness and blackcurrant couldn't believe it this morning felt like I drunk the place dry!!! I think it will be the pictures next week for me can't cope with wine bars!! Has anyone seen new Ben Stiller film sequel to Meet the parents??? Is it any good? Stay in touch and keep well Cate xx

Angela,
Are you having boys/girls or one of each? I can't remember if you posted about it.

My next scan is Feb 15. If they were overly worried, I'm sure they would have had me come in before that. They said it could just look like that because I had a lot of herbal tea to drink that morning :)

Does anyone else have constant nosebleeds? I seem to get them almost every day, and sometimes several times. At least they seem to go away pretty quickly.

Alicia:

I have had a few nosebleeds, but I noticed they directly correlated to how cold it got outside because when it gets close to 0 degrees F here, I have to turn down the Aprilaire unit (it's a humidifier that is attached to the furnaces) so condensation doesn't form inside the windows.
Do you have a humidifier you could run in your bedroom at night.

So I'm on an antibiotic for the bladder unfection (which caused the excess white blood cells in my urine), and go in Friday for the 3 hour gestational diabetes test. In the interim I have to eat atleast 150 grams of carbs for the next 3 days. Which, after I looked at my cereal box and measured everything with the milk I'm already 65 grams down just with breakfast, so I'm thinking their idea of a carb overload is my idea of a regular day. So this shouldn't be too hard.
I also feel a bit relieved after talking to several friends who failed the first test in one of their pregnancies, and went on to pass the second test. I know the main concern is that the baby will get too big to pass through the birth canal.....I'm having a C-Section anyway!
Hopefully all is going well for everyone...those of you who don't find out the sex of your babies, I have no idea how you get the willpower! Especially when you go shopping for those sweet sweet baby clothes! Also, when shopping for clothes if you're having a singleton, you might not need a ton of the newborn sleepers...I'd stick to the 0-3 months. My daughter was 10 lbs 8.5oz and the newborn sleepers go up to 11 lbs...needless to say, we didn't get very much use out of them. I've washed them and put them back into the nursery just in case this one is a lot smaller!
Off to the basement to my instrument of torture (the treadmill).
Have a great day.
Who is starting our 3rd trimester thread. Cate, you've got to be pretty close right?

I'm 25 weeks this Thursday!

Post by Cate »

Nearly there as you said Paige thanks for waiting for me and being so patient 25 weeks this Thursday but if you want to go ahead I will follow you in due course!.
I'm feeling great the nosebleed t
hing is horrid I know I had that with Jess and again this time but not so bad only really after blowing. My gums bleed though when I get a bit keen brushing!
I've got a scan on Thursday which is nice going alone though as Paul away working and Jess at school, I asked my Mum to come with but she wasn't keen which surprised me really but she is worrying about me a lot.....My Mum is 77 so all of this IVF stuff is a bit much although she is thrilled for me I know.
I'm hoping when the baby comes it will give her a new lease of life she misses my Dad and my brother both of whom died within the past 4 years.
This baby will be good for all of us! stay in touch Cate xxx

Hi Ladies

Just got back from a blissful 2 and a half weeks away from work, being pampered by my parents!!! Hope you're all feeling good... despite the setbacks that are sent to try us. Hope the indigestion and nosebleeds are getting better. Just think of the wonderful bundle/s that you will get placed on your tummy in next to no time at all!!! It makes it all worthwhile! Although, I must admit that I am soooo looking forward to being able to sleep on my tummy again one day!

Good luck with your tests, Paige- stay positive!

My bump is now getting enormous.... I can't believe that there is more stretch left in my skin!! So far so good (touch wood), I've managed not to get any additional stretch marks... but then again, I oil myself daily and if someone tried to hug me, I think I'd fly to the ceiling through their hands!!

One thing that has shocked me a bit is how society sees pregnant women (and most likely elderly people too, going at this rate!)... this morning I got on a packed tube, and people look at your bump, then at your face, and then look in the other direction, trying to ignore you, so that they can avoid giving up the best spaces on the train..... has anyone else noticed this? Not that I wanted to sit down, but it's the principle... as a non-pregnant person, I would ALWAYS have given up my seat for someone who seemed to need it.

I am having the nappy discussions with DH at the moment... he wants to go for disposables, but I want to go for cloth nappies... has anyone else given it any thought, or got any experience in it?

Enough rambling from me... next scan on Tuesday (was meant to be done in 28th week, but what with my holiday and them re-shuffling, it's 2 weeks late!)... hopefully we won't find out that our little Anna is actually Anatole!!! Then it's back to the shops to buy some blue clothes!

Keep well all you beautiful blooming mummies to be!

Tanya: How nice to be pampered for 2 weeks! Lucky you. I too am feeling enormous. I'm also starting to get tired a little bit earlier. Today I was on the treadmill for 30 minutes (believe me nothing you'd see in a fitness video..I feel like a turtle), and then later when outside to build a snowman with my 5 yr old. It's only about 7:30pm and I'm ready for bed.

I still haven't heard anything from the Dr. about whether I passed or failed the 3 hour glucola test. Thankfully I didn't have to drink more than the first time, the sugar concentration was just higher in the same amount. Though having them take blood 4 times in 3 hours was not a treat. I look like a crack junkie with tracks up both arms.

I've also found that some of my maternity clothes are hurting me :) Especially the low waisted ones, so I think the baby must be dropping or my waist is just getting bigger down there. Thankfully the legs and butt still fit, but the minute I get home I'm into my maternity yoga pants.

I also had a weird thing go on last night. I woke up about 2am totally sweating everywhere. I had to change pajama pants. Has anyone had any hot flashes like that?

I've have noticed that people will look at my belly and then not make eye contact like it's embarrassing or something to see it! I think it's kind of funny.

I hope all of your lovely bumps are doing great!

Janem: How is everything going with you, you've been kind of quiet....
