Bleeding ...............

Post by Toni »

Hi all

Ok I need some advice. for all of you that have been following my story on the 1st trimester thread you know the deal. but thats not important right now....................

i went to nurture on saturday morning and there was the 2 babies with both heartbeats in tact and growing at a normal rate. it was such a relief to see my precious little ones!! however, after the scan the doctor sat and had a talk to me about the fact that there was some 'bleeding' around one of the sacs. he said it happens some times, no explanation and nothing i could do, just wait. it might not make any difference and it could just clear itself up etc. not to worry and to REST!!!!!

Ok, so now I AM worried!!! i dont really understand what has caused it and if my babies are in any real danger, does this mean the start of a miscarriage or something?? I am so scared!!

can anybody help me? Has anybody experienced this before? Even if the news could be bad I would rather know now, than worrying til next wednesday when i have my first antenatal scan.................

if anybody has any answers i would be so grateful to hear. it was all going so well and now over the last couple of weeks it feels like it has been one thing after another!!!

HI Toni,

Hope that you are ok. Just read your post & wanted to tell you that I had the same thing, bleeding around the sac which was discovered at 3 weeks. I am now due to give birth any day now, I am 38 weeks & 3 days. I know it is a worrying time but try to stay positive for your little babies.

Will be thinking of you & watching how you go. Take Care :D

Toni,

I think I can understand how you feel right now. I miscarried a twin (not because of bleeding as I had none before my miscarriage, let me assure you, but just because it simply was not developing) and it caused a great deal of blood that flowed out of me, including clots. So there was quite a bit of bleeding behind and around the remaining fetus and sac. The clinic basically said the same thing to me, to wait and see, but they were much more concerned in my case, (understandably, I now feel). I am now 14 weeks with the other twin, and although a blood clot subsequentl;y formed near the sac, it did nothing to compromise the blood flow to the placenta and has not posed a problem-no more bleeding and the baby is just fine. You can only wait and see, but if all the bleeding I had did nothing to dislodge my baby, I'm thinking yours will be just fine. Hang in there, and I'm going to guess that in your heart of hearts, you know everything will be just fine. I felt this way, and I happened to be right!

Love,
Elizabeth

Toni,

Our doctor told us that sometimes one of the embies has a hard time attaching. Small tears can form, that usually heal. Sometimes this sequence happens more than once. They said that might be why I had bleeding up until 7 weeks.

So I don't think it's that unusual, but I know it is terribly frightening. I hope all turns out well at your next scan. I sometimes think that early pregnancy makes the 2ww seem like a breeze.

Thsnks guys for your replies - it has helped to give me a bit more of a +ve attitude towards things. i just want next weds to be here already (thats when i go for the next scan.my first proper antenatal one), to see if its cleared up.

i was warned i might get some brownish spotting or a bit of a brownish bleed, but to date havent had anything. The cramps came back again in the middle of last night, which was my first warning that all was not well last time, so not sure what that means...............?? :?

Thanks again

Hi Toni,
I can imagine how frightened you are? Don't worry. Your babies will be fine. Sometimes the abdominal pain is because of the uterus streching.
Just stay positive.
Lots of love

Toni,
I too am really positive that all is well with your two lovely babies. I still get lots of cramping and have been reassured that this is the uterus pressing on my ovaries that are still enlarged from ivf.
Your babies are 11 weeks and thats a good sign as the placentas will be taking over now.
I don't need to say fingers crossed because I know everything will be fine. Will wait to hear your positive news on Wednesday.

Hi there,

Hope you are hanging on in there. It's really scary - I know. Me, like lots of others on here, have been through what you are going through with positive results. That probably won't put your mind at rest - but I hope it helps a little.

I was told that I had a haematoma (spelling??!!), probably caused by the baby pulling away a little after attachment. Apparently it's VERY common, but a lot of women don't even know they've had one because the body reabsorbs the blood. In some cases, it doesn't, so the body just gets rid of it. I bled of and on for about 14 weeks - with cramping, brown blood, red blood and clots. Its horrible, but think of the other wonderful things happening in your body. :D

Take care, rest up and try and relax (if that's at all possible :? )

Hi again becky

I am ok now thanks. i had my 12 wk scan last wednesday and it looks like the bleeding has cleared up mostly around the sac, and the babies are growing at the proper rate and have strong heartbeats and everything. i guess i just panicked when i realised that something was at least going wrong, i mean, we were soooooo lucky that it worked first time round for us, and that both babies implanted...i guess im just waiting for something to go wrong as i never expected to get this far so quickly.....

I was told that some blood (brownish old blood) might come through but i didnt get any so it looks like my body has absorbed it....

how is everything in your neck of the woods?
