What does it all stand for?

Post by leigh »

Firstly can i say a big thank you to everyone who responded to my first message. Nicolamark especially made me smile with friends n family telling you 'It will happen!' I have heard this many times. I am not sure about all the abbreviations, what's iui for example. Thanks for any help on this.

iui=intra uterine insemination.
If you look on the left hand side of this screen, see where it says insemination, iui is under that. Click and read. Save me writing it all here.
Anway, I am glad that I made you laugh. see thats what I mean, this site is great for making you laugh, great for meeting people in the same situations etc,,,,,
Let me know if you are struggling with any other abbriviations.....

Ps: Post on the general site, most people do that here. ok!
IUI using donor in 2005

Hi, welcome to the board!!!

I am still fairly new, although I am very active on the board - comes from being a chatterbox I think!!

I'm glad everybody has trouble with the abreviations I thought it was just me being D I M (dim)

I have picked up a few on the way, although my husband wasn't too sure about being a DH, we did come up with some daft alternatives.
Also AF caught me out (Aunt flo) because my friends call it their Aunt Sally, I just call it an inbuggerance (made up word that I can't spell).

Anyway, told you I was a chatterbox, lots of luck to all x

Hi Leigh, the board also has a glossary which explains all the technical terms (scroll down tp the bottom category 'Resources' of the the long blue list on the left). Other more coloquial terms aren't there but include things like:

BFP/BFN - big fat positive / negative (eg. test results)
AF - Leanne explained this one
DH/F/P - dear/darling whatever his status is - also dickhead if he's not being supportive enough!
EC /ET - egg collection and egg transfer
GA - general anesthetic

there are more but I've drawn a blank...
hth (hope this helps)
Debra.
Me: 44, DH: 31
Game Over.
Dates: Aug 02 - May 06
Tries: 5 fresh + 4 frozen.
Results: 1 daughter, 2 m/c, 1 ectopic.
