Anybody gain weight with invitro? If so, were you able to lose it if you didn't conceive? Not that it matters in relation to a pregnancy..I'd take whatever weight on to gain a pregnancy!

Yes a little. I've read others who say the same but it's not everyone I think. For me the bloating/discomfort towards the EC date means I'm less likely to be very active or want to exercise. Plus, I found I wanted to be focused and quiet in preparation, which led to some comfort eating. After ET you're advised to take it easy for a bit (although 'a bit' varies massively from clinic to clinic, anything between a couple of days to the whole 2 weeks). I certainly reduced my activity during the 2 ww and this led to some weight gain, nothing hideous but a bit.
There's also a line of thought that the meds don't help with weight gain but I'm not sure if this is medically proven.
Hi Betts ... I'm afraid to say that I have definitely gained some blubber around the midriff during the last 2 treatments I'm v. slim except for my tummy, and I was shocked when the 2nd lot of stimming began and I lifted my top (for the jabs in the stomach) for dp, and there it was ....! I really hadn't noticed how much there was ... As Debra says, you do tend to do rather less exercise during tmt and 2ww .... (I am sat here though, drinking Baileys, so maybe that's the culprit rather than the medi !?)

I absolutely gained weight. From what my Dr. said, it the combination of fluid retention, no exercise allowed and a metabolic fluctuation. I gained 7 lbs...which is a lot for me to gain.
I also gained weight!! Whilst on the treatment I went up 2 clothes sizes!!
My tummy was huge and solid, I actually looked about 6 months pregnant! I found it very depressing as I didn't want to buy new clothes and I didn't want people asking if I was pregnant. I ended up borrowing clothes off my friend, that she wore while she was pregnant although they were not maternity - too much of a jinx.
I lost it all the first couple of times ( I have been through 3) but have found it harder to loose this time, my clothes fit but they are tight and look hideous!
I was relieved to see others in the same boat ( sorry girls) because I knew it wasn't my fault.
I also gained weight - about 7-8llbs which was a lot for me - I worked so hard to lose 18llbs before we started this so we could have the best shot
When my levels went sky high I was soooooo hungry and that on top of not feeling well enough to go to the gym and then when I finally got to stop sniffing I got a cold so I was not doing any exercise and eating like a horse!!
I am currently working hard to lose it before we start again (hoping AF will be here in 10 days - fingers crossed)

Thanks for all the response. I am glad to know I am not the only one! I gained 12 lbs!!!! My tummy was so bloated too. We had to travel and stay in a hotel and that didn't help! I had the ravenous appetite too. No will power, etc. BASICALLY every condition you guys named..I feel like I had!! I am happy to say that the weight does seem to be going away now. I am down 5 lbs, but hope I am gonna gain about 30++ more...if you know what I mean!!. Now time to go eat some fudge...I'll diet tomorrow

Like everyone else I too gained weight - lots of bloating particularly around my tummy. I lost it very quickly after the first tmt. The bloating began to go from a couple of days after ET then when the 2ww was over and I wasn't pg I began to excercise again and the weight soon went (was a good way for me to get rid of some of my pent up anger/upset)

Maybe I'm the exception to the rule here, but I actually ended up a few pounds lighter after my cycle. From the last few days of stimming through about a week after ET, my stomach was really bloated and my clothes were very tight in the waist. I kept getting on the scale thinking I had gained massive amounts of weight only to find it read the exact same as usual. I did keep an eye on what I ate throughout the cycle and continued to exercise up until around Day 7 of stims. At that point, my stomach just felt so full and uncomfortable that I could only eat very small amounts at a time. Once the whole thing was over, I guess some water weight fell off and I was 3 or 4 lbs. lighter than normal....although, I guess some of it could have been muscle weight since I normally lift weights and wasn't able to for the 2 weeks.
At any rate, weight gain was a big fear for me (willing to gain those pounds for pregnancy but not as a result of these meds!) so I was relieved that it's possible to get through this without gaining. I guess everyone's body reacts to this stuff in it's own way though. I was just lucky with this one!
