Hi Danica,

16 is a good number. A friend of mine tells me its not the quantity but the quality that counts. I had nine egss but some developed much faster than others and I had a couple of cysts as well that didn't help maybe i would have had more but.....

When I had EC they only took five and drained two cysts the other they left behind because they said they wouldn't be good enough. Of the five three fertilised and all were very good quaility.

So if i have to do it again hopefully I will get one or two more as i won't have been on the down regging drugs as long. i was on them for about 8 months with a couple of months break, the consultant gave me a really high dose of the stims to combat it.

Hope all goes well for you.

Love,

Jane

Hi girls,

I had my first scan on Wednesday after injecting for nine days, I have only small folicles on my left ovary. The right ovary has gone 'missing' again, I don't have the right hand tube so the right side ovary 'floats' around somewhere! Anyway a blood test showed enough estrogen to suggest I was responding but it could be the right one that has the larger folicles.

I go back on Saturday for another scan. Then I will find out if I have to take Menepur for a few more days and EC will be now on Thursday or if nothing is happening the treatment will have to stop.

Feeling abit sorry for myself as nothing is going to plan.

Age 43 First Retrieval Tomorrow!

Post by randa2006 »

Hello, Fellow Moms-to-Be!

I am 43 and going in for my first retrieval tomorrow! Ultrasound shows at least 8 ripe ones. My situation is a little unique, not only because of my age, but because I had two children in my early 20's. In fact, my new husband and I don't even know if I could have gotten pregnant w/o help, because we chose not to wait around.
Anyway, no bad side effects so far from the drugs. I too have polyps in my uterus. Doc says it's controversial as to whether or not they really are a hindrance. (?) So, we're going for it!
Also, we are choosing to freeze all this first round and go for another immediately following. Rather than wait 9-12 months (due to pregnancy) before harvesting again, we are putting away as many as possible now to stop the clock on the frozens. Doc was a little taken back by that strategy, but we stood firm. (50% success rate on frozen) We want two children. Risky, but it was mostly my husband's choice since I've already had children and he hasn't.
Pray for us! I'll keep you posted. - Randa

Just been for another scan, folicles still small. Got a couple more days of menapur-another £70. Go back Tuesday for verdict.

Has anyone else had problems with the drugs not reacting fast enough?I've read loads of posts about OHSS but I'm having the opposite effect.

Lesley, there have been others in your position. Two or three more days can make all the difference. Try to stay positive ...

Hi everyone

I've recently discovered this site and wondered if there's anyone who's on their 2WW at moment. I'm half way through (test on 21st Feb) and it's killing me - would love to find someone else at similar point. It's my second cycle of ICSI and it's hard to keep positive.

Gaynor and Betts,

Good look for tomorrow I'll be thinking of you, lets make it a triple we certainley need some more somiley faces on there. Don't know how long I will have tgo wait for my results I've booked the day off work because i know I won't concentrate and won't want to be there whatever the result. Gaynor do you have to wait until after 3pm for your results? I was given a slip with their number on and it said phone after 3pm what a wait.

I have to say its got harder and harder, sleeping is difficult and such weird dreams. ANyway less than 24 hours to go and I still haven't done a HPT.

Good luck,

Love,

Jane

CC - If you look on the Test Dates thread, there's a list of everyone's test date so you can see who's on their 2WW. Christian tests on 16th, so she's just a few days ahead of you ..

Just been for final scan, EC to go ahead on Thursday but only just, only got three folicles so I might not even have any eggs.

I've also got fluid in my left (blocked) tube, the doc explained that it may cause an infection at EC so they will give me antibiotics first before EC. Any one know why it happened?

Also last time after ET I took pesseries, this time it may be more injections of the HCG, not looking forward to that.

Anyway I take the last of synarel and menopur tonight then one injection of HCG tonight. Tomorrow is a drug free day!

Still not thinking past EC.

Lesley - Try to think +ve for EC on Thurs. I know it's hard, but there's no reason why each follicle won't have a nice juicy egg in it. PMA !!
