Hi everyone
I am currently confused, upset and downright angry !
I am now nearly 33 and had an ectopic when I was 20, I had a laparoscopy and was told that the embryo had been expelled, I was sent home but a week later I collapsed and was rushed to hospital where I had emergency surgery as the tube had ruptured, obviously the embie had not been expelled, anyway I was told that the left tube was badly scarred and that I would have to have IVF to have any chance of children, I was never told the reason for the scarring, I was just told I must have had an infection at some time.
anyway I went for IVF when I was 21, I did not respond very well and they only got 5 eggs, 3 of which were successfully fertilised and put back, but the cycle failed. I buried my head in the sand until recently when I realised I was not ready to give up and my DH and I went back to the clinic to discuss starting IVF again, it now appears as though my ovary has dissapeared! on my right side (the same side as the ectopic) but noone ever told me that it had been removed!, I have also been told that my notes say that my left tube is hydrosalpinx, another thing which they failed to tell me last time!, I am aware of the complications of a hydro tube and asked about having it removed, I have just spoken to my consultant who says that the hydro is quite small and is "probably" sealed.
We are paying privately (which we really can't afford) as we cannot get any help on the NHS in our area (we can't even get the drugs prescribed on the NHS) and my consultant has told me that I shouldn't worry too much about my hydro tube and that I should just get on with my IVF, when I asked more questions I was told that the waiting list for the NHS to remove my tube would be at least 18 months followed by approx 3 months recovery time before I could start IVF, and if I could pay to get the tube removed privately that it could be done straight away but it would cost nearly £3500, money I just don't have!
I am now confused as the general opinion on the boards is that it is best to get any hydro's removed,
I am just worried that not having this hydro removed will result in me throwing away my chances, I feel as though I may as well go and flush £3000 down the loo and save myself the pain and heartache of the IVF treatment, to top it all I have also been told that they won't accept me on the egg sharing scheme because I had poor response to the IVF I had 12 years ago!!!! so the chance of having IVF for £600 a go has also just flown out the window.
I now feel as though I have hit yet another brick wall.
any advice anyone??
thanks for letting me rant
