first visit to sick kide A & E

Post by Zed2003 »

:(

Poor wee Sam,

Decided to bash his head and had a cut right at the corner of his eye tonight. What a flaming fright we got seeing the blood.

Our NHS helpline, G-docs thingy told us to go to our closest A & E and when we arrived they told us no patients would be seen under 13! We were told to go to sick kids, didn't know how to get to the sick kids and got lost with the map we were given :( :( :(

Anway, the wee man if fine - probably the sign of things to come as he's turning into a right wee boy... :D

A great start to the weekend though...

Poor little Sam. Did he need stitches? Must have been a real shock seeing him hurt like that.

We've taken Maya to the A&E once but only because nursery told us they thought she'd got conjunctivitis and they don't let them back the next day unless they've started treating it with prescription ointment. A&E here is split in two, people who need to see a doctor out of hours (eg. us), the other side is for the real emergencies. Quite a sensible idea I think.

Fingers crossed Sam has no more need to go back for a very long time yet.

Hi Zoe

I am sorry to hear about your freight its so scary isn't it? How is he now? What was he doing?
I can't believe they wasn't seeing any children under 13 if it was anything more serious would they still have told you that.

Alex was at A&E last weekend he fell on the wooden floor loosed the bed and decided he wanted to try and walk and bang down he went banging his head and cutting his gum open.

Keep us informed
Scary how they are growing up Zoe don't u think?

Love
Shell.

You both made me feel better knowing you'd both been at A & E lately! LOL

Sam's fine - much better than us in fact. The cut was really small so nothing needed doing to it. I gave hiim a bath this morning to clean the blood away :o and although small - it's scary how near his eye it is. I shiver thinking how lucky it was not half a cm further........

Shell - Sam also did something similar a few weeks ago. He was in one of these donut rings on a sofa bed and bounced himeself off onto the laminate flooring. Lots of cold towels arnica and panicking from us. We freaked big time and of course it was just before he went to bed. We kept him up for an hour, then stirred him every two hours just in case. Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As usual, he was better than us.

My AF arrived this morning :( Still fighting the fight!

Thanks again girls

Hi Zoe,
Scarey!!, glad that Sam is better though..
Do you think we're naturally more anxious 'cause of what we went through to have our precious babies, or am I just a born worrier??

terrible twos

Post by Wendy »

Hiya - I think they give it that name because its terrible when they are just constantly bashing themselves. Our worst scare so far was when he fell over in a store and bashed his temple - no cut but an enormas bulge of blood - we just went straight to AnE and they just gave us a cream which stops it clotting and lets it drain away and it had gone after his sleep and he didn't even cry for more than a minute - it was us that were freaking out. They just seem to take it in their stride. Benjamin cut his finger last week and had to have a plaster for the very first time - it was a big moment for us both - he didn't want it at first but then after the first couple (replacing them constantly with an active mucky 2yr old boy !) - he was asking for them ! fingers crossed we only all ever have to cope with is a few bumps, bruises and plasters.
loads of love Wendy, Chris and Benjamin (2 on sunday) ps how do I get these wonderful count downs at the bottom of my msg ?

Wendy...I agree. Here's hoping they need no more than plasters!

Most tickers seem to be via lillypie so try and find their website maybe?
