Hi Kate.....by abroad I guess you don't mean England - lol!
My treatments have all been in Norway as I live here permanently. I've no problem at all with their technical expertise etc. The only thing for me about having treatment away from the UK is the language issue but I guess you'd only choose to go where they'd use English with you? it kills me to not understand everything I'm being told. I hope she doesn't mind me saying this but did you read Jools' (?) experience last year in Italy? not good even though her DH is Italian.
Another factor is finding somewhere which works in tandem with a more local doctor for the preparation, scans etc. You'd maybe also want some local follow up, again Jools found her local GP extremely unhelpful when she wanted to test and ask questions.
I have read that some of the new EU countries eg. Poland offer or are going to offer very cheap ivf-holidays where you go for the entire 2 weeks and have treatment there and fingers crossed, return pregnant.
I don't know anyone who has done this but there was a post on the IVF board from an American (?) who was going to Greece for her treatment.
It was several months ago but that board can be slower so you might be able to find the thread.
Good luck
Debra
