Hi Sharon,
It was our idea to "bank" as many eggs as possible before transferring. The doc didn't argue, but he did remind us about 3 times that it's riskly.
Our logic is, obviously, if you get pregnant the first time, you have to wait a year before you can harvest more. It's a gamble though. There's the chance that none will survive the thawing process and we would always wonder if we would have transferred live would it have been successful.
We are basically challenging the old advice "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."
Could be a very smart thing. Could be a very dumb thing. ???
Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

Hello All,
We were hoping to have some embies for freezing from our last EC but unfortunately none of the embies that were not transferred to me survived to the stage where they could be frozen - perhaps that is why the whole thing didn't work last time. I am hoping that this time we may have some for freezing but as I only have 5 follicles at this stage I think it is unlikely.
We are only planning to have 3 attempts at IVF so haven't thought about harvesting more eggs as by the time I'm 41 we will either have given up or I'll be pg (I know which one I'm hoping for). I know that having more eggs stored would mean I could perhaps try for longer but I really don't think I could go through this too many times.
I guess we all have different ways of approaching this and different ways of coping so go with whatever works for you.
Take care
Love
Debbie

This is all very relevant for me too. We can't keep going on. This next try will be no.6 and there comes a point where we need to face the fact that we've been lucky once but that it was luck/age/our one chance and we've had it.
I've never considered harvesting mainly because we were first time lucky and always assumed we'd beat the odds a 2nd time. We had 4 tmts last year (albeit one FET cancelled on the morning of ET) I think that was too many and I hope I'm strong enough to say this next chance will be our last fresh cycle. If we get frosties, we'd use them vs. not (can't donate them here) but the clock's not slowing down any.
I'm also playing the fate/sod's law card by having bought some cute summer tops this week. Yes it was minus 16 this morning and the snow is thigh high in places but I figure if I fill my wardrobe with small clothes, I'm BOUND to get pg!
Hugs
Debra.

Game Over.
Dates: Aug 02 - May 06
Tries: 5 fresh + 4 frozen.
Results: 1 daughter, 2 m/c, 1 ectopic.
Debbieed,
Well said. Geeze I hope you get pregnant!
And you too, Debra!
You have both put so much into this!
"Small clothes" yep, that's the way my life has always worked. For example, I've wanted a treadmill for years. Finally bought one a few weeks ago... what happens? Within 3 days I break my foot coming down the stairs! I'm on crutches for 9 weeks! (yes, I haven't told you all that I've been going through all of this with a broken foot. I even had surgery on it one week before the ER! Crazy!)
Anyhow, you get my point.
God Bless!

I had the same thought too. I need to join a gym - a really expensive one that does not offer refunds........................
. About six weeks after joining a gym I got pregnant with my son, and eight years later, on my second IUI, I joined a gym again - and got pregnant with my daughter!
Only a couple of weeks before my donor transfer now - starting to get anxious!
Hello Girls,
I guess lots of us do things to try to tempt fate. On our first tmt we booked a holiday for not too long after - either as a celebration or to recover. Unfortunately it was to recover! After the first tmt failed I also went out and spent loads on clothes - nice fitted suits for work etc. Up until then I'd resisted buying new clothes for a while as I was hoping I'd have to buy maternity ones. This time round I haven't really done anything like that (well, not yet anyway).
Hope you're all hanging on in there with the PMA.

Hello All,
Well I had my EC yesterday - didn't have the energy to post yesterday - slept for most of the afternoon and evening!
The EC went better than I had hoped. On Friday I was told that I only had 5 follicles but yesterday they managed to collect 6 eggs. Needless to say I was delighted. I though that I'd only have 4 or less. Last time I had 9 follilces and only 6 eggs! Today I have to ring to find out how many have fertilised!!! Last time at this stage they said that 2 had fertilised so I was quite disappointed but when we went in for ET they said that 5 had fertilised (guess I'm a bit slow!!). Today I'll try not to be too disappointed if only a couple have fertilised as I now know that things can change.
Physically I'm feeling ok - a bit sore across the tummy but nothing too bad - it's just nice not to have to have needles stuck in me.
Hope everyone is keeping ok
Love

This moment ... to hear how many fertilised... I think this is the worst part....
I will be having my EC tomorrow....
fortunately the injecting is over... it made my mood swing for laughing till big fat tears... and beside that: it looks like I have meazels, I am covered with all little red spots... (decapeptyl)...
How are you hun? I am so glad you are trying again. I read a while back that you were thinking of throwing in the towel! I really hope your egg collection goes well tomorrow. I'll be keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed for you.
Good luck to you all......
