I have cover now at work, but every one in the office is whispering wondering what the hell is going on, I hate it. Ive told a a couple of work mates, who I am mates with outside of work too and that's it. And obviously my boss knows, but he's acting like it's not real. I have appointment on 1st march at 'isis' clinic then after that with my GP.

Alette - I have told 2 mates who r close friends also at work, and my boss. Others in my offices like to gossip, I don't want to be the subject of their next gossip!!

Wendy - Will do a new post about my appointment later. Went well, feeling positive. :D

Nicola

I would assume if your GP signs you off because you are not fit to work for whatever reason then your boss can say very little!

Do you work for a large company?

Hi Nicola, can totally understand why you are so mad, I would be too

I told my boss last year I would need some time off, as soon as I mentioned IVF he changed the subject....... I did have a couple of days off sick but then took rest of time off as holidays as then I felt he couldn't question me.

We recently had our 2nd attempt (:( ) and I told him I would need some time off to go into hospital etc etc, when I came back to work (I work from home so worked through my 2ww) he asked me if I had enjoyed my break from work, when I told him (but didn't go into detail!) that actually it had been quite traumatic what I had been through he just laughed and said "you will do anything to have a couple of days off work"!!!!!!!!!!!!! So you can imagine how  I felt then!!!

Have decided that when we try again I am going to use holidays - it's not fair as if there was anything other reason why we needed time off nothing would be said.

It's just another little hurdle we need to overcome

Take care
xx

Hello Nicola,
I'm really sorry to hear what a tough time you've had with your boss. On my first cycle I took holidays but this time I am off sick. A week or so before EC I developed a urine infection and flu so had to have time off with that. I spoke to my GP about the treatment and she said that she would be happy to give me a sick note as a little tlc wouldn't do any harm. She was also very sensitive about what she put as a reason on the note, it says 'hospital treatment' only so everyone in work needn't know. My note runs out on 9th and I don't test until 16th so I'm going to get another note to take me up to then. I really do want to give this the very best chance of working so am REALLY taking it easy on this 2ww.
I'm not sure if a union would be able to give you advice on your work situation, or ACAS are very helpful. They have a good website.
Hope this helps

Love
Debbie
