New here and looking for advise

Post by sallie »

Hiya, :)
I am a 32 yr old who has been trying 2 concieve on/off 4 the last 9 yrs. Was originally diagnosed with secondary ammorrhea by GP as was only having couple of periods a yr and he then referred me 2 gynae consultant. He gave me course of clomid and run some blood tests - which all came back normal + ultrasound scan which showed that I had PCOS (however he would not diagnose me with it at that time as I apparently had no other symtoms associated with PCOS) :x . Anyway changed gynae consultants, he diagnosed me with PCOS there and then. This time round have had laporoscopy which again shows nothing (my tubes are not blocked and I do not have endometriosis :( ) and yet again clomid, I have since been back and they want me 2 have another course of clomid with a blood test 21 days into my cycle 2 see if I am ovulating. Surely after 3 courses of clomid and still not pregnant they would be able 2 tell if I am ovulating or not? Am really fed up  and feeling low  and no nearer 2 knowing y I do not have periods or what the problem is as 2 y I am not getting pregnant. If anyone has any suggestions 4 me I would b grateful. I know I sound impatient but after 9 yrs of trying am getting worried that I will never have a baby and I so much want 2 be a mom. :( :( :( :(

Hello Sallie,
I'm not sure if I can be of much help, but my advice would be to ask for a referral to an assisted conception clinic. They may be able to help more and might be more sympathetic to your wish to conceive. Do some research first so that you can ask for the clinic you want to be referred to.
Be insistant (easier said than done sometimes I know) but if it's what you want go for it.
Best of luck

Love

my heart goes out to you...

it does seem like it has been along time..
but there are sometimes no answers to the whys..
that can be the hardest..
but it could be important to rule everything out that they can
so when you do do an ivf those problems wont come up...
i vf is very hard to deal with.. it has a lot of ups and downs..

it re minds me of the sand dunes that i used to go to as a little girl.. the dunes would go up and down and they would go forever..

i am glad that you found this forum..
you will meeet alot of great women here..
we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives
and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!

Hi Sallie :)

In 1990 that is when me and my partner decided that we wanted a child after ttc for 8 yrs we still had'nt got pregnant so I went to the doctor and she gave my a blood test 21 days after my period to see if I was ovulating the result was that some months I did and some months I did'nt, then they sent me for a laparoscapy and that showed that my tubes were blocked, had a operation to unblock them and when I woke up was told that my tubes were in the wrong place, they put them in the right place and told me to go home and try for a baby naturally, still nothing happen so what I did is made an appointment at my nearest acu and told them all about my history they put me on the waiting list for ivf and 1 yr later I started my treatment and Im please to say that I now have a beautiful 3yr old. So my advice to you is don't give up keep going I know its hard but as you've seen there are lots and lots of friends here to support you and give advice when needed......Tink
