Question about Movement!!?

Post by Guest »

Hi Girls

I have got myself in a right state worrying that my baby has not moved yet..............I am 18+3 and all of my friends have felt movement before this stage?????!!

I am beginning to panic a bit........I know I have got until 20 weeks but am so scared that I am not feeling or maybe not recognising it??

Can those of you who have been here help me or share your experiences on this one??

Thanks girls

Hi Jen,

Try not to worry too much. It's one of those things that varies hugely and I didn't feel any movement until 21 weeks. It didn't bother me (luckily) but what did bother me were the hundreds of people who asked if I'd felt any movement yet - if I'd been a bit more neurotic about it, that would have really got to me.

Hi Jen,

don't know if this helps or not but I read somewhere that first time mothers feel movement much later than with subsequent children. Whether thats true or not i dont know, but i am sure everything is fine! I understand tho, like you said to me earlier, everything is a worry.....................!!

Love always

Hi Jen....

I felt nothing until about 21 weeks. My also pg colleage (due 3 days after me) had felt her baby weeks before but not told so not to worry me -how thoughtful was that?

The first time was so extremely, extremely subtle that I wasn't sure what it was. It was only because I was sitting alone with no distractions that I even noticed at all.

It will happen (and then you'll worry because it's stopped for half a day!!)

love
Debra.

Hi there,

I was also slightly later than you when I first felt my son. It really does vary and it also depends on which way the baby is lying. Try not to worry too much - the time will soon come when he/she is kicking you big style and you'll wish for a rest!!!

Try lying ina warn bath and you may see some movement then!

Take care

Jen,

I didn't feel movement until I had an ultrasound at 19 or 20 weeks. When I saw that one of the babies really was up in my ribs, I realized I had felt him moving the week before but not recognized it, thinking it too high up. I did not feel the other baby move until about a couple of weeks ago, at about 24 weeks. But I knew he was moving because of the ultrasounds. He was just lying so low that it was hard to feel until he got a lot bigger.

So it really does just depend on the position, I think. Try not to worry. You'll be surprised to feel your baby moving when you least expect it.

Hi Jen,

Congratulations on feeling the baby move - it's truly wonderful isn't it?
So so reassuring.

I didn't start feeling mine move until about 21-22 wks. I'm now nearly 28 wks and am still completely obsessed with it's movements. I can sit for hours on end just feeling it move.

Take care,

Hi Barney

It is great..........makes it feel even more real! Although as you know at this stage it is a bit intermittant so I do have the odd panic when I have gone for some time without feeling it!! I wouldn't be me if I didn't!!

Did you find out what you are having??

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.......i will be looking out for you!

Hi Jen,

I'm a worrier just like you. DH says I'm not happy unless I'm worrying about something. Guess I won't stop worrying until I'm holding that healthy baby in my arms. But then, I suppose I'll have a whole load of new worries. It's never ending. Ha Ha. Where would we be without this forum?

We have decided not to find out what sex the baby is. I not sure why we took this choice. Probably because I would worry that they would get it wrong if they told me what it was.

Take care of yourself.

Just read your message - looks like youa re all sorted now - but I hardly ever felt much movement - even at the end I was always worried I didn't get much kicking and certainly never had to MEGA moves people always talked about!
Anyway - all was fine and I have an 8 week old (VERY SQUIRMY!!) little girl. Shes a poppet but I've forgotten what sleep is like!!

I've just read through these posts as I am 20 weeks 3 days pg and still haven't felt the baby move. At the scan she was moving around all oevcr the place so I know she is alright, but I can't bl**dy wait to feel her little kicks. Hopefully only a few more weeks (max another week) and I will be able to feel her. Like Jules said its so annoying as everyone asks me whether I have felt her move yet. To some people I lie and say yes just so they dont worry me by pulling a concerned face.
