What a great site for people to seek answers, comfort and advice, thank you. I have been in the IVF cycle now for 10 days and was supposed to have retrevial tomorrow but yesterday, the doc told me that I am developing slower than expected. I started to cry (as I am sure is normal with all these darn hormones!) and asked if there is anything I can do differently. He said no and that some women just take longer. Have any of you had this similar experience? I have ordered meds three times now and hate needles even more! I am only in phase one...
sorry can't answer your question - I am sure someone will be able to though
Just wanted to say good luck and try to thing positve these things happen for a reason (I know easier said than done!!!)

Welcome to the board - You will find so much support on here from all the other ladies.
Firstly don't panic about not having your EC on the day you were supposed to. It happens to a lot of people. I take it that this is your first treatment? Usually a first treatment is a bit touch and go as to how your body reacts to the drugs. Your body has taken a bit longer to react mine went into overdrive and I reacted too much. The doctors can change your meds and get a better picture of you and your body and will get it right next time.
Some people have to wait a few more days to develop their follicles to the correct sizes ready for EC. You will be monitored and hopefully in a few days you will be ready.
Best of luck hun - keep us informed.

Hi Brandy,
I too was responding very slow during my early days in the ivf treatment. It took the doctors about 7 to 8 months to figure out why I was not producing enough. At one point thedoctor said that I was not taking my medications properly. Eventually we switched doctors and this is my second ivf cycle. Taking into consideration this is your first attempt don't worry. When I went for my first ER my Blood pressure was up by 143/100. So I too was very nervous. But in my second attempt now, I am more relaxed and so far so good.
Don't panic. Go with confidence and you will succeed-which my mom always told me and I believe it a lot!
I too was a slow responder on my second cylcle, I had to take the injections for a few days longer than first thought. As long as I had three good follicles they went ahead with the EC. In the end I only has 2 eggs and only 1 embryo but it only takes one!
I find out on Thursday!!
Good luck with your treatment

Hi Brandi. Like the pps have said, a slow response isn't uncommon at all, esp. with a first treatment. The doctors have to estimate dosages based on age, averages etc. but we're all different. A change of dose (usually up) is quite normal.
I had your experience with my first treatment. I was crushed and thought it all over but over the extra 3 days with an increased dosage of meds, my follicles developed sufficiently, EC and ET went ahead and the treatment was successful. Please don't worry!
hi brandi, i'm supposed to have my ec march 9. i hope it goes as planned because i already requested that day off from work plus two more days...keep us updated and good luck, "lots of viable eggs" steph

Keep your chin up Brandi - I know it's a pain when things are postponed - none of us have any patience - especially me but hopefully it'll be worth it in the end! I'm going for my day 6 scan tomorrow to see how my fsh injections are going so fingers crossed I'm nearly at your stage Brandi!
Good luck to you all! xxxx

Hello Brandi,
As everyone has said, don't worry about having to wait a bit longer. it is common for people to react differently. My last attempt I had to wait an extra day, but this time I've had my EC on the day that they had originally given me. The clinic will know what they are doing and they'll be waiting until the follicles look just right to give you the best chance of success (they want it to work too).
Hang on in there - we're at a very similar stage - I had EC yesterday and am waiting (impatiently) to ring the clinic to find out how many of my 6 eggs have fertilised!!!! Keeping everything crossed.
Best of luck
Love

Thank you for your support and please know my support, thoughts and my prayers go out to all of you.

Yeah, I actually learned to ask questions and last week when he said I was "slow" (which is when I found this site!), I welled up with big alligator tears and asked if it was my fault. He actually softened up a bit. I go into the appointments in a business suit, always on my way to work and doing work while I wait, and admittedly, I appear to be pretty strong on the outside! Maybe he didn't think I needed a bit of "TLC" as they say. Anyhow, totally excited and nervous and again, appreciate everyone so much for lending advice to me in this time. I will share as much as I can to help too.
