Fantastic news Caroline and welcome to the 1st trimester buddies group. Its great that now Anne has someone a little closer in dates. Nausea and tiredness certainly sound like symptoms to me !! The tiredness and the nausea just keep coming - enjoy !! Really its great having some signs as it makes it seem a bit more real. After a weeks reprieve from the nausea, today I felt awful, incredibly tired, headache and sick - mind you the weathers awful here - snow and bitter cold, so we havn't been out and the house is hot with the log fire going, so thats probably something to do with it.
Dh and I are just reading a great book called 'raising boys' by an Australian guy. Its very interesting and great for Chris. He never had a dad and has always been worried that he wouldn't know what to do but after reading this book its really boosted his confidence that hes been doing it right so far.... So if /when any of you find out you are having a boy its a good book to read, particularly for dad. If we are having a girl this time, like Chris is convinced we are (!) then we'd better source one on raising girls too !
OOh Kelly - hawaii, fantastic - just go for the string bikini and stick your belly out like you're 5 mths gone and be proud !! Mind you if you're really slim, you probably havn't really got a big belly - you just think you have - you should see mine, I wouldn't say I'm fat but I'm well rounded !! A friend of mine is really thin and even when she was full term she wasn't as big as I was at 5 mths - I was HUGE at the end !!!!
I use geocities to set up all our web sites as it free and I find it easy to use. Benjamins already got a site - http://www.geocities.com/benjaminblakeman2003 a bit long but theres photos from day 1 on there. I'll post the birthday shots next monday.

Sorry I haven't been on for so long, I'm really feeling a bit out of touch. My only excuse is WORK and feeling completely knackered by the end of each day. The M/S pass mainly passed although I got hit by an awful dose over the weekend.
TIP: Little "Itsy Bitsy" is not keen on stir fry particularly Soya Sauce, ginger and chilli. No way. If I thought m/s was bad the reaction to spicy food left morning sickness in the shade. I won't be making that mistake again. Bland food from here on in.

We had a due date on our anniversary 31 August but it got moved to 1st September but that's OK coz both me and my DH were born on the day after our parents' first anniversaries!!!

Hey Edi ... was wondering where you've been?! Glad to hear that all is well, except for the spicy food incident =) I've read that some women can't tolerate spicy food during pregnancy. You were right about Isabelle Oliver, they have fabulous clothes! Too late for me to order anything from them for my trip, but I'm probably going to order a couple items for summer.
Welcome Caroline, and congrats on your BFP!!! What a nice surprise that your due date falls on your birthday. Welcome to the first trimester with the nausea and tiredness. You and Anne will find your evenings growing shorter and shorter, and there's no point in fighting it. I tried and ended up falling asleep sitting up, in the middle of a conversation with DH! But the tiredness is good. It means your body is working hard for baby, and that's the way it should be.
Wendy, your little Benjamin is absolutely adorable! What a nice big smile you captured in that last photo =) It's amazing how fast they grow. Thank you for sharing your pics with us. I'm hoping to do something similar, so your site was inspiring. Sorry to hear that your weather has been so terrible. Hopefully it will let up soon. When does spring arrive in your part of the world?
As for us ... we got our Nuchal results on Friday. They were normal so we were thrilled!!! 1:2061 for Down's and 1:250,000 for Trisomy 18. We've decided not to do an amnio, so that's a HUGE relief. My spotting has also finally stopped. I've continued to spot for weeks after the bad bleeding epidsode I had that one weekend. I haven't been worried about the spotting, but it's just not something you want to see when you're pregnant. I have a feeling the placenta must have recently kicked in causing it to stop. Crossing my fingers and hoping that's the end of it for good!
Well ... I've rambled enough. Hope you all are having a lovely week! Best of luck to everyone on your scans! Looking forward to hearing about them!

Funny today have not felt tired or sick & now worried about that! this whole IVF/Pregnancy is just one worry after another!
Anne - you asked who we have told, well our parents & siblings & a couple of close friends i.e. everyone who knew about the IVF. I would prefer not to have had to tell anyone yet, but it was impossible when they knew about the IVF. Oh I also had to tell my secretary so she could deal with my daily/ twice daily visits to the clinic & cover for me!
Now of course they are all nagging me about not working too hard etc etc when of course they shouldn't know, but I know they only mean well.

Friday is my best day for posting. I'm nearly always in a good mood(that friday feeling) and no matter how high the stack of work is I know I'm looking at two free days and about to knock off another week on the pregnancy calendar.
Saw the OB yesterday and I have offically been handed over to the midwives for community care and signed off as "normal, heathy and well" which is a relief.
No scans yesterday but I did get to hear the heartbeat which was nice - strong and fast.

Don't fret about not having symptoms. If you scroll back through this thread to near the beginning you'll see my early frets to Kelly and Wendy about not feeling any symptoms. But I tell you between 6 and 12 weeks as I was dragging myself around the office half-dead from nausea I would have given anything for a few more symptom-free days! Most important thing is try not to worry everyone's experience of these early days is different. And only a few more days to wait for the scan.

Those photos of Benjamin are really cute. Was it easy to set up that site? With so many members of our family spread across the US and Ireland, I would love to be able to set up something like that in time to come.

fantastic scan !
Hiya everyone - well we've got there - the big 12 wk scan and booking in etc. The baby is gorgeous - looks just like Benjamin, kicking and waving and turning his/her back on the ob, so he had to keep nudging him to get him in a good position. He measured the nuchal and it was well within normal, but they don't do a risk assesment with 1 in 2000 or that with this measurmt here, they only do that with the triple blood test. But its a relief knowing all looks well - heart beating strongly and all msmts good, in fact he said he would say I conceived about 5 days earlier than we did if he didn't know better as the baby was 'big' but thats compared to french standards (where most mothers smoke and drink !!) the measurement was 7cm which is normal in my book. So we've got our pack of magazines and advertising and some piccys. The piccys not as clear as Benjamins was - he said it was because of the scar tissue from the c section, but it was clear on the tv screen - 'live'. So we are really chuffed !!!

I have finally plucked up enough courage to post on this side!!! Its taken me a long while to get here but I am 7wks today. I had my scan last Thurs at 6+1 and we were amazed to see two beating hearts
, one was 3.9mm and the other 3.8mm. We are absolutely thrilled, so Caroline we must be about the same?! My EDD is 26th Oct, but have been told it will be 37 wks which makes it 5th Oct. Just praying now that everything continues well, and am wishing my days away!
So far am feeling ok, a bit sicky when I first wake up, but this seems to go if I eat quickly! Just incredibly knackered the whole time!
Hi to Kappy,Edi and Wendy, I have been reading back to see how you felt at this stage!!! Edi you were an inspiration to me as I know you had a few cracks at this game and finally had a success with blasts, this is what we decided to try this time, and it seems to have paid off!
I have another scan 2wks today(9 wks) and my consultant has just told us, no sex, eat loads and try to get a couple of hours rest/sleep in the middle of the day!

When we arrived they had lent the scan machine to another part of the hospital and we thought we would have to come back another day, but luckily we only had to wait an hour. We were so excited and when we saw our baby it was amazing, its heart beat was so clear we cant wait for our next scan on fri 18th march.
Congratulations Caroline on your news of your twins how wonderful, i think my dh was secretely disapointed its just the one for us, weve got loads of twins on both sides of our families, Ive got twin sisters and my dh mum is a twin. When is your next scan Caroline?
Hope everyone is well, just spent some quite time catching up with all your info.

HI Sue I saw your post on the other side and wanted to say congrats on the twins situation! Isn't it wonderful??? Like you i was also scared to migrate over here til I knew everything was okay in there....... I am now 17 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Still feel like its a miracle - the only thing that lets me know its real is my ever growing tummy and boobs (gone from a 34C girls to a 36DD so far!!!)

Sorry to butt in on your thread here, but I have a question for any of you (I think it might have been Wendy, actually) who has gone the 'Contented Baby' route, courtesy of Gina Ford. I've bought the book, and though it sometimes seems overwhelming what with all the stuff you need to have beforehand, I figure if I can really do it, it might save me some major stress later on.
Anyhow, I and my husband are very confused about her first suggestion and wondered if anyone can help.
She begins her discussion of buying a cot by saying 'most people will want to have the baby sleep in their room at first' then proceeds to say how it i simportant though to have the nursery completely set up befor ecoming home from the hospital. So far this makes sense. But then she says that the baby should get accustomed to it's nursery by napping and feeding during the afternoon there. This is where I'm confused. IF the baby is sleeping in your room at night, how does it take its naps in the nursery? She is not clear about what she means here-buy two cots? One for the nursery one for the bedroom? I thought the idea was to get the baby used to it's bed (hence, why she suggests a cot from the beginning rather than switching from a moses basket to a cot later on), so using two cots doesn't make sense at all, both from this angle or just common sense. And would it be realistic to expect the baby to nap in something other than a cot in the nursery when it takes its naps?
Can anyone make sense of this? Would be very grateful as I would really like to try and get this 'project' going correctly!

Sorry to butt in on your thread here, but I have a question for any of you (I think it might have been Wendy, actually) who has gone the 'Contented Baby' route, courtesy of Gina Ford. I've bought the book, and though it sometimes seems overwhelming what with all the stuff you need to have beforehand, I figure if I can really do it, it might save me some major stress later on.
Anyhow, I and my husband are very confused about her first suggestion and wondered if anyone can help.
She begins her discussion of buying a cot by saying 'most people will want to have the baby sleep in their room at first' then proceeds to say how it i simportant though to have the nursery completely set up befor ecoming home from the hospital. So far this makes sense. But then she says that the baby should get accustomed to it's nursery by napping and feeding during the afternoon there. This is where I'm confused. IF the baby is sleeping in your room at night, how does it take its naps in the nursery? She is not clear about what she means here-buy two cots? One for the nursery one for the bedroom? I thought the idea was to get the baby used to it's bed (hence, why she suggests a cot from the beginning rather than switching from a moses basket to a cot later on), so using two cots doesn't make sense at all, both from this angle or just common sense. And would it be realistic to expect the baby to nap in something other than a cot in the nursery when it takes its naps?
Can anyone make sense of this? Would be very grateful as I would really like to try and get this 'project' going correctly!
