traci i am confused which doesnt take much, but
did you decide not to take eggs from sister?
i thik that there is alot of emtions that could go on.
did you talk with a counsler or anything..
i know my sister in-law offered to carry our baby for us but at the time i told her thank you but no..
some times i regret it but most of the time i dont.

and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!
Hi Traci, I have 2 sisters, one is nearly 38, I could use her as a donor but they tell me the chances are slim because of her age. My other sister is 31 but has no children of her own and the clinic is 'very reluctant' to use her eggs. their main reason is that she may decide later she wants children, what if she can't have any but if I was successful - I would have her child that she couldn't have. I am half glad they have really taken the decision away from me. I love both my sisters dearly and as well as hating the thought of either of them going through tmt, what if I was not successful, what if the child was ill or anyting, would I blame my sister? would she blame herself? Too much to take in. So many more questions and maybe even more stress. For me I think the perceived problems outweigh the desire for my 'own' child. Having said that, if I could guarantee a successful outcome (a what?!) I would jump at the chance as the child would be my blood. So I'm sure that didn't really help you at all. Sorry. When you used your cousin (Mandi?) as a donor was it easier because she was leaving the country, were you very close?

the mane thing with my sister in-law is that she doesnt take very good care of herself and while i was pregnant i did.. so it wouold have drove me and her nuts if she would have carried our baby..
did you read my post about maybe having your and her eggs put back in so when you got pregnant noeone would know which ones got you pregnant? that was just a thought... i have missed you

Its wonderful that they are prepared to do that for you. My 2nd cousin offered but she is 44 and we decided the risk of failure was too great. My sister (39) keeps offering, she has Thomas (9months) and nr2 on the way (due July) both conceived naturally at frist try (grrrrrrrrrrr). When my mum was here she tried again saying that Dsis wnated me to be really sure that I didn't want her eggs before going for DEggs in Barcelona...then the next day my mum was saying she is worried about DSis as she had alluded to maybe having a third baby...
I have decided with dh that we need to be in control, she offers one minute and then isn't sure the next, that would be too painful for us..and we would have to wait aonther year and then.....
I guess it would be different if DH had problems too, as he has no siblings, but I keep thinking about it and coming back to donor eggs from anon.
It's a really tough one isn't it??

Hi Becky
we are going to Barcelona (IMarques) where there is no wiaitng list for donors.
What upsets me about it is that she suggests that it would be better to have genetic material from my side of the family there ..then on the phone the other day she was supposed to be reassuring me (SHE THOUGHT) that a child through DE would be as much in the family as "thomas" (her son) ..and then talked about wouldn't adoption be better..she has no idea, and the child will be part of dh anyway, so how could she be so thoguhtless??how the hell would she know when she is preganant twice without even trying?? and to top it all her SIL ( a very sweet girl) gave birth Wednesday . Actually what is really funny is that they sent us photos by email straight away ( they had stayed with us a s we live halfway between Lithuania and Brussels by ferry/road), it took 3 weeks for my own sister to send us anything. Just shows you blood is not always thicker..
Sorry for raving away but at the moment I think my sister is a selfish c##w. Also she promised to record precious babies for me and then didn't record tha last two as she was so "busy" and she says we would have a good support thing going if I came back to the UK hahaahah I remember now why I left!!!
ooh I feel a bit better now thx

Hi, haven't been able to post for ages because I got a new computer & I couldn't remember my password but I am back now.
Jools - why is there no waiting list in Spain? Do donors get paid there? I keep looking on the internet at US sites and there seem to be loads of donors and I always find a couple of girls who I would choose. Whereas here in the UK I have to be on a waiting list for a year or so.
I need to call the clinic to see if I have moved up the list but I keep putting it off, maybe because it's easier not to think about it....

hi kat and here in the states we dont have a waiting list. if there is one it isnt very long....
you just have to talk with them and they will have you go threw a couple of women and then you pick..
we had been waiting for donated embies cause this would be cheaper.
and they still havent gotten any at lest at our clinic.
