Hi Girls

I had a quick check up yesterday and my Consultant said that my baby was small for its dates..........but growing on the right line and all was fine.

I am happy but cannot help worry about small for dates.......has anyone experienced this??? I have been through so much I cannot bear something going wrong now??

Jen:

I think if I remember correctly don't you work out quite a bit? I measured small in the beginning, but not any more! If you abdominals are very tight, they will hold you in longer in the beginning.

Jen,

Please try not to worry to much, I had the opposite said to me that my baby was bigger then he should be. I really do hope someone on here can put your mind at rest.

Take Care

Jen,
From what I have picked up is that babies grow differently after 12 weeks. So if up to 12 weeks and at the 20 weeks scan everything was fine then do not worry. babies then grow differently. My friend was told all the way through her pregnancy that her baby was small (she is a very slim girl and I think the baby was bent double most of the time). She was made to worry though the whole pregnancy. the midwife kept on getting her down the hospital for scans. They decided to induce her 2 weeks early and her baby ended up being 7 lbs 13.
I know you are going to worry whatever we say, so why not phone the midwife tomorrow and ask for a scan .. saying that you are worried which is not doing the baby or you anygood. I'm sure they will book you in for a scan .... if not you can pay privately for about £100.00. Thats what I would do, and I know we seem to be as neurotic as each other.
Don't worry though Jen, your baby is absolutely fine and always has been.

Hi Girls

I had a scan on Friday and I am having another on Thursday....so I can wait until then........

Its the measurements they take........head, leg, abdomin etc they take them at 20 weeks and at scan going forward and mine just seem to be slightly small........he didn't see it as a problem but I can't help but worry??

He mentioned that IVF babies can by slightly small........oh I don't know.......I am quite slim myself and my sis and I were both 5lb 10 ish so we were really small at 39 weeks.......maybe it is genetic???

Just wanted to know if anyone else had the same and all was ok??

Thanks girls and keep in touch!

ps sophie well done on the old half of shandy.......seems to have done the trick!!

Oh Jen - I wish I had seen this sooner - DO NOT WORRY!! I had EXACTLY the same and really stressed myself out about it. Your baby will be utterly fine - and let me tell you you wont want a big one!! My little girl was induced a week early because she had stopped growing and the amniotic fluid was falling - the doctors had thought she'd be pretty small - she was born at 6lbs 9 - pretty average weight - and they all catch up with each other over the first few weeks/ months (Although I stressed out the other day when she'd only put on an oz ina week - the worry never stops!!!!!!!!!)
Really dont worry at all - look up IUGR (inter uterine growth restriction) if you really do want to know more - its realative common and usually causes no problems at all.

How are you feeling ? When is you due date.
Rest rest rest - you will not BELIEVE how tiring it is.......but pretty awesome too!!

Hey Caz

Cannot believe you have posted!!! Just yesterday I was having a search around the boards to see if you had been on!

How is life with your new addition............fab no doubt!

Thanks for calming me down about the small business........dr did say it was fine, but you know how it is in this game........worry worry worry!

Everyday I bloody worry......days when it doesn't move too much I am going out of my mind!!

Apart from that I am feeling fine..........a bit of sciatica! and really looking forward to the arrival so I can see from myself if he/she is alright!! Due date is 4 July......but god only knows if it will be then!

Are you planning on going back to work??

Take care Caz and keep in touch!

Jenxx :)
