Hi all,

Hope everyone's having a good weekend. While Michelle was gettin' down and dirty at a Kylie concert, I was stuck home doing taxes :x (they're due in a few weeks in the U.S.). OUr accountant has a form we fill out and they ask if we forsee any major changes in our household financial situation for the next tax year, including new "dependents." I checked yes! Do you think I jinxed myself?!

Anyways, Souri, I think I'm on the same quick schedule. I didn't downreg, but jumped into things two days after my AF (start stimulating with Gonal-F, then 5 days later I add two more daily injections). The only difference in our schedules is that my doctor waits a few more days to transplant the embryo--this is apparently a new technique but he swears by it. So we do a day-5 transfer when the blastocyte has undergone a few more divisions. Then a pregnancy test a mere week later! Sounds like Traci's schedule is similar.

Jules--I can't believe I'm pumping 4 times as much Gonal-F into my body as you are!! I hope I don't overcook like you did. But the doctor's giving me a blood test on Monday and might lower the dosage. By the way, you asked about going to a concert after ET. I am actually flying, with my Dr's blessing, the next day or the day after ET. I agree with Debra that bumping, grinding, jumping, and other riotous acts are out, but from what I've read there's no reason to be sedentary. I think you could go, be calm, then get home as soon as it's over for a good night's rest.

Leigh--I had an IUI in October and it was so quick I was amazed! Of course for two weeks before that I had to do some stimulation with Gonal-F, then a trigger-shot with HCG, but it was a much simply injection regime than I have with IVF. The actual fertilization took about 3 minutes. I remember the nurses laughed when cluelessly asked if they would use anaesthesia on me, and whether it would take a few hours.

Cheers,
Donna

Hi Everyone!

Was a bit worried about my procedure so i called my doc.
He confirmed that I will go straight onto stimulation the second day of my period, so no downreg.

I cannot compare the medication I will be on with yours, because all the names are different (being turkish made..) so i will try to get more details to compare the results...

Jules, I am also flying back home 3 days after my ET, I was really worried but the doc said there was no problem whatsoever!

Keep well

Souris and Jules...I flew back to my hometown less than a week after ET and started a new job the next day...that treatment was my successful one! The only thing I did was ask the check-in staff to lift my bag up to be weighed, tagged etc. I loved saying 'I'm newly pregnant so can you help me please'. It was the first time I'd ever said the words out loud!

Jules - I injected both the downreg and stims at the same time of day. Downreg into my arm, and the stims had to be into the stomach.

Hi All,

I finally caught up on the past week’s discussion – sounds like everyone is doing well. Very interesting how different doctors pursue the IVF with scheduling and medications used. I am really thankful for everyone’s feedback and knowledge. My doctor in Germany is very good and speaks pretty good English – although he prefers to speak in German and I sometimes get confused on the terminology. I find myself asking him or the IVF nurses about 3 times to ensure I understood and then do more research on the side – and your input/experience in invaluable.

Hi JulieT – finally the snow melted in Munich and our daffodils and crocus are starting to bloom. How about Ostholstein?

DebraP – thank you for the information on Zita West. I have tomorrow off so I will have time to check out the website and order her book. When do you start/plan to start the puregon?

Sarah – I am sorry to hear about the ohss but sounds like you are in good hands. I am also jealous you got to watch Crufts! I have 2 Norfolk Terriers and have been tracking CoCo and would have loved to see her in the ring. I definitely would have cried – I actually started tearing up when I read at Westminster the audience was cheering for her.

Souris – welcome! Azerbeijan (spelling?) most be very interesting – especially seeing and experiencing all the changes.

Donna – sounds like we will have the embryo transfer around the same time. Right now my schedule is around 3rd or 4th of April – but could definitely change. Still waiting for AF to show up today – I always have 13 days in my luteal phase (except when I was on Utrogest after an IUI). Maybe the Synarella is delaying AF.

Like you all I am getting very anxious and praying for positive results. DH is actually working in Vienna (I will move after the IVF) and is difficult not having him around. If he is not in town when the eggs are harvested we have 4 frozen straws.

It is going to be a long but exciting month!

Update

Post by SarahJ »

Hi all

Had to go back to hospital on Saturday to check my eggs and they said that size wise i am ready for egg collection, but they wanted me to wait to let them mature a bit, so i am going in for egg collection tomorrow. Howver they have said that they might not be able to put them back straight away and i might have to have them frozen because of OHSS.

I have at least 15 follicles on one ovary that are 12mm or above and at least 6 that are 17mm. I only have 6 on the other ovary and i dont know what size they are!!

Not looking forward to the big needle, i hope these sedatives are good!!!

Will let you know how ive gone on Thursday if im not having them transferred then!!!

Speak to you all soon

This is my first time on IVF. I have just had my second scan after 13 days worth of injections of 3 ampoles. i have got 6 follicles at about 13mm and 2 more days of injections to try and boost them further. Not too hopeful i feel. Looks like i might have to try again with a higher dose.
Bit crap all of this isn't it?

Hi girls,
Well, that's me now officially started treatment. I had my Prostap injection this morning, i was really worried about it because of my needle phobia and it was even worse when the nurse said she was going to do it in my hip. I don't even know what all the fuss i made was about, the nurse kept me chatting, next thing i knew she said it was done, i didn't even feel a thing. So that's all i have to do until the 5th April when i have to have a scan and get shown how to do the stim drugs.

The Kylie concert was actually really good, even though i'm not a big fan i enjoyed it. She put on an amazing show and her dancers were excellent. The tour is called Showgirl tour and for the first couple of numbers that's exactly how she was dressed, she wore a tiny little sparkly body suit thing with great big feathers on her butt and in her hair, she had quite a few costume changes throughout but nothing quite as dramatic as the first. After one costume change she appeared from the ceiling sitting on a moon, got lowered down and then moved across the stage on it, it wasn't one of her own tracks she sung while on it, she sang Somewhere over the Rainbow and it was really good.
Michael was quite upset when we got home, he looked at the photos he took and they didn't turn out too well, most were quite blurry. So Jules, if you take a camera i'd advise you to take a normal one and not a digital one. Oh and another thing, the price of tour programs is extortionate. Last time i was at a concert i paid only £5 for one (mind you that was about 9 years ago) but it cost Michael £15 for one. Jules, even if you're not a big fan of her like i was, i guarentee you will really enjoy the show.

Well i have to go now, Michael has just phoned and wants me to drop something off for him at his work.
Take care and talk to you all soon.
Lotsa love

Michelle

Hi Anne - Welcome to the site. Don't be too negative re your 6 13mm follies. With another 2 days worth of stims, things can move along pretty swiftly. Try to keep positive

Sarah - Best of luck for EC tomorrow. Hope all goes well !

Michelle - Well done on your Prostap Inj. No more until stims sounds like a good protocol to me ..

Anne, I can only echo what others have said. The last few days of stims can be quite dramatic so be positive and fingers crossed, you'll be pleasantly surprised on the day. My first treatment was delayed by a few days as the follies weren't big enough, I thought it was the end of the world but by EC they'd not only grown but a few more had appeared. Quite a common story by all accounts.

Good luck with treatment. Once you have a test date, post it on the April test dates thread and I'll add you to the list. It will give you a good idea of who the other 2wwers (2 week waiters) are.

Hi
Thanks for your positive comments. I am feeling a bit deflated as it seems 2 days is not long after 13 days of injections. But as they say on Thunderbirds - anything can happen in the next half hour!
Given that I have never had a period naturally and neither Ovarian drilling or 4 months of Clomid had ANY effect whatsoever my bodies response on this occasion is quite encouraging!
Keep cheerful all of you, i'll let you know how i get on on wednesday.

Clinic is in london and work is stressfull so i need a break.

Michelle—congrats on starting! (it’s your first time, right? mine too). And Delly, you’re even further along, so good luck.

I’ve been stimulating with Gonal-F for four days now and just had an ultrasound this morning. I’m somewhere between Sarah and Anne in terms of the number of follicles—I have 13 so far, though some are very tiny. I hope all goes well, Anne, and that you develop more follicles. Hopefully you can try again in another month if this doesn’t work out—I had started stimulating last month but had to stop, which made for a depressing wait. But now that I’m trying again all is fine. So hang in there, and in the meantime we'll hope these last two days of injections do the trick!

Cheers,
Donna
