Brilliant - I thought it was just me!! This time I'm going to strike a happy medium and be healthyish but not stressed if I indulge a bit too. Great to see a thread all about diet - I shall be posting there too. What's everyone doing over Easter? Any exciting plans? I will be working mostly as I'm in the middle of directing a schools edition of Les Miserables but I enjoy it so it won't feel like work. What's everyone else up to? Cherylx

Hello Team!

I've been disonnected from the Web for a few days, so I'm just catching up.

What a great group to be part of! Everyone is so into being fit and healthy! I love it!

I'll share what has always worked for me and that's counting calories. I know, it's nothing fancy, but I heard a health and nutrition expert say on NPR once that all the other diets are hype and it all comes down to just that - NUMBERS. "Take in less calories than you burn and you'll lose weight. Do the opposite, and you'll gain. Simple."

It's great because you can eat anywhere and as much variety as you did before. Just know what number you can't go over (for me, with my current lifestyle and age, it's 1,100 to lose, 1,300 to maintain). Doesn't sound like a lot does it? These numbers were higher when I was younger :(

The new calorie counter books are full of even restaurant items and all the fast food chains too, so it's easier than ever to track your calories.

I keep my little book in my purse with a tiny notebook. I've never been more than 5 pounds over weight (please don't think I'm bragging), but it's because I weigh daily on my bathroom scales (reality check, like looking at your true bank balance regularly so you can't lie to yourself) and about once every 2 years, I do the calorie count thing for a month to ensure I haven't let my intake creep up .... and I always have - which usually explains why my clothes are getting too tight and the scales are tipping up a few

Seems like every 5 years I have to adjust my ideal calorie intake a little and add a little to my workout to keep things even steven. Which is normal, because the older we get the slower we burn calories (metabolism slows and our muscle-to-fat ratio tries to drop - have to fight that after age 35).

Anyway, sorry I've hogged so much space to explain my weight control plan. It may not work for anyone else, but it has for me my whole life. No yo-yoing. :D

Hope everyone is enjoying Spring and planning a fun Easter!
God Bless!

Oh my god you are so organised! My weight has varied by 3 stone since I was 18 - I yo-yo. However, that is probably due to PCOS (others PCOS will sympathise)!!! But, I MUST NOT USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE!!!!!!!!

Lumi,
This will make me sound stupid, but what is a stone in weight?

I'm sorry about your condition. I know some issues can affect our weight and I have been very lucky that I have not had any. Sounds like you've got the right attitude and won't let it make you a victim.

Take your favorite pair of skinny jeans out of the closet and put them near your scales - wonderful daily motivator! :D

Hello All,
I've been too busy to look at the board for a few days so am just catching up with everything. I too have been really careful on my food intake - lots of fresh fruit and veg, trying to walk a bit more than usual, but unfortunately my downfall has been alcohol this week. I'm still finding it difficult coming to terms with the -ive result and I find that during the evening my mind starts to wander and then I spend most of the night awake worrying about things and going over and over things, so I've had a few drinks in the evening to make me sleepy. I know it is not good and I need to get back to just having a couple of glasses of wine at the weekend. We're going away for the weekend so hopefully I'll be in a better frame of mind when I come back. We're going to spend a few days walking on Dartmoor so I'll get plenty of exercise.
I'm also going to talk to my GP next week about acupuncture. She does this for some conditions so I thought she'd be a good person to talk to about it.

Have a good easter weekend all.

Love
Debbie

Hi everyone - yes we do seem a healthy bunch don't we (well we talk about it anyway - but you have to start somewhere!) Won't be long now until we start thinking about sniffing / injecting etc. The nice thing is I think we'll all be quite spread out which will be good because we'll have highs and lows at different times so we can support each other. Great to see Randa and Pixies mom joining us, although I'm sad to hear of your
-ve results. Has anyone heard anything from Ellie? She seems to have gone a little quite - hope she's okay. Hi also to Debbie, Joanne, Lumi and everyone else (apologies if missed any names). What do you teach Lumi? Just curious because I'm a teacher too (at least at present - I'm finishing in July) - I'm Secondary - what about you? And how come you get 3 weeks break - are you University staff or something? Nosey, nosey, nosey - that's me! HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE - HERE'S TO FLUFFY BUNNIES, HUGE GALAXY CHOCOLATE EGG AND A NICE GLASS OF WINE (Specially for you Debbie - nothing wrong with a little tipple in between treatments - I'm joining you for a glass or two!)

Debbie - you don't sound like someone who's in danger of becoming a lush, so I think you should endulge yourself for a while - you need lots of tlc after what you've been through (dh too).

CC - how wonderful that you are going to be directing the school's performance of Le Miserables!!! I'm jealous! Of all the classics that we had to read in school, Le Mis was my FAVORITE hands down! I hated reading until that book!

Excited to get to know everyone in our group. I'm currently waiting for af (day late :? ) Then on day 3 I start back on the bc pills... cycle #2 begins for me.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to you all!

Hope everyone is well, I have managed to hurt my back (recurring problem - just another one to cope with  ) so am going to see a chiropracter on weds to hopefully sort it out!

Am also looking for some help please......this is quite  for me but I guess it's unusual for AF cycle to go a "bit weird" after tmt?? I haven't had a period (sorry tmi?!?!?) since Feb and am usually regular, have had pains to indicate it is on it's way but not here yet (am now 10 days late, and I KNOW it's not because I could be pregnant (again tmi?!?!?) - WHY WHY WHY?!?!??!? Am scared that my body is doing something it shouldn't which might throw plans for next tmt out??

Gosh - who would be a woman?!?!

Joanne (just to try to reassure you a little that you're not alone)... I too was v. regular before I started tmt. However, after my first -ve, my AFs turned slightly irregular. Then, after my 2nd -ve, my next AF was 5 days late - which seemed like an age for me as I was always a strict 28 day-er. ... and the more you worry about it, the longer it will take.

Hi Joanne - how bizarre - I have just got home from Chiropractor because I hurt my neck at rehearsals on Tues - I feel very sore now but it's a good sore - you know when you know something right is happening. We seem to have lots of similar events happen so hopefully we'll both be getting +ve results too very soon along with our June/July buddies!! With regards to AF - don't worry I'm sure everything will be fine but why don't you give your clinic a ring just for the reassurance. I know it sounds daft but are you absolutely sure you can't be pregnant? It might be worth testing to be on safe side (unless you absolutely know you can't be). Good luck with getting your bsck sorted and Happy Easter. Happy Easter to everyone

Cherylxx

(P.S The Les Mis schools edition is fab Randa - best thing I've ever been involved with - West Side Story is a close second in terms of shows I have loved directing but not quite as powerful. It's a shame we're not allowed to film any of it or I would have posted a little clip up for you. Do they do the schools version in America?)

Cheryl,
I have never heard of a public school here doing Le Mis. And that's a shame. Hat's off to you!

Joanne,
I just went through what you are talking about w/ my af (first EC in Feb). I was 3 days late and, like you, I'm NEVER late. 10 days is quite a bit though... you should call your clinic.

Hello all - just moving us back to top! Anyone got any more news? Have you rung clinic Joanne? Probably hard because it's Easter but hope you have some luck soon - things like that can really make you worry and the more you worry, the less likely you are to come on! Very unfair really. Hope everyone's enjoying the sunshine and looking forward to a stress-free cycle with lots of support. We ought to start sharing some funny stories to make us chuckle - problem is I haven't got any!! Has anyone else? I could do wit a good chuckle - Don't have to be treatment related, Cherylx
