IVF #2 - Frozen Cycle

Post by aliciajackson »

Hi!

I'm new and looking for anyone with experience.

We just completed our first and unsuccessful IVF cycle. Found out Sunday it didn't work. We are moving full steam ahead with our second attempt. We had 13 retrieved, 7 that made it one day, and 5 by the time the transfer happened. 3 were transferred. 2 remaining made it to blastocysts and were frozen.

Anyone with any FET experience at the blastocyst stage?

Hope to hear from you.

Thanks.

Sarah,
B****y H**l - excuse my 'french' but that seems brilliant you must be chuffed to bits. You'll need to be patient now for a couple of months so hope you've got plenty of distractions planned. Congratulations!

Hi Alicia, and welcome to the site. I'm sorry to hear you've not made it this time. I can imagine just how devastated you're both feeling at the moment. Make sure you give yourself to get over this episode, before moving onto the next. I didn't realise just how much it had taken out of me until a few days later.

Re FETs and blasts - there's been quite a lot of talk on here on this subject ... Alicia (I'm sure she won't mind me mentioning her name) from the US is currently pregnant from a FET with blasts (5 day-ers). (As you've probably worked out by now, all the mothers to be post together on another forum).

My next cycle will be a FET, but my hospital only does ET on day 2. Each is different, with their own protocols.

Sarah...wow! I've never had more than 10....way to go you! You'll need to let your body calm down now, expect some twinges as your ovaries 'deflate' and everything returns to normal size. You've now got some time to prepare yourself physically, mentally and nutritionally...lucky you! Like Sandra's comment, 15 frosties, depending on how they're frozen could give you 4-6 goes at my clinic as they freeze them in 2s.

Congrats!

Alicia...there are definitely blasto-FET success stories on here...in fact it's usually a very positive place to be. Feel free to post, ask Qs, comment on others etc. Most of us get a huge amount of support and help on here.

Traci - On both my cycles I stimmed for 10 days, with EC on day 12. Sounds like 4th or 5th is spot on !

Hi everyone

I have been reading all of your posts with interest and wonder if I am too late to join for this round?

DP and I met with Dr 24 March and begin taking the pill tomorrow (day three of cycle) - we have to contact our cycle administrator this week to talk about the timetable moving forward, but I understand that of all goes well, its the pill for 3 weeks, a nasal spray for a couple of weeks, and then hopefully EC early May.

Hope you have all had a happy (hoppy??) easter!
