Fiona's Blood Tests

Post by fiona_lk »

Hi all,

Following woppa's relentless determination to get answers, I have now managed to get booked in for my own beta blood tests.

MFS are totally willing to do the tests for my own peace of mind, but as this is outside their 'normal treatment cycle' they will charge me - not sure what yet. But I'm willing to pay just for the fact that the nurses know how to get blood from me without 'damaging' me for the next week or so (well, apart from the one I mentioned last night was a cow).

So they will send the blood sample to the lab they normally use in Leeds and have asked that I come in for the first blood test on Monday 28/10 (had that 'check-up' scan booked then anyway). They'll then decide what day I'll have to come back for the second bloodtest to compare the hCG levels - may be 48 hours later, maybe more.

Its not an 'instant' answer, but then again its better than waiting another two and a half weeks without any action.

That's my update for now.

Love

Fiona xxx

Hello Girls

I have to say some people I have spoken to say they dont like pregnancy ie. being sick. feeling bloated. getting fat. feeling hormonal, ect but I can tell you pregnancy is the most amazing journey we as women can ever go through and hopefully one day one way or another everyone on this board will get a chance at that. I was only 19 at the time when I first got pregnant and me and my now DH had hid our relationship for 7 years up untill that moment I was only 13 years old when we first started going out with each other (childhood sweethearts) LOL. Anyway we hid it because we were both of a different race you know how familys can be anyway our family's soon came round to the idea and everyone then got excited at the prospect of a new baby in the family. Now I can tell you the morning sickness and the bloatedness didnt ever bother me because it reminded me everyday of our baby inside me growing and you find yourself holding and stroking your tummy and talking to it even when you dont even yet look pregnant and I think the best thing of all was when my tummy started to grow I loved it because then it seems even more real and so I could'nt wait for it to get bigger and bigger, and bigger it got I started out at 8 stone and ended up 11 and a half stone and I am only 5 foot so you can imagine I looked like a big ball but do you know I loved it even though my tummy looked like an atlas by the end of it, it was all worth it and much more that was 7 years ago now alot has happend since then to my body so today I had my FSH blood test and we are desperatly hoping that IVF will be able to aid us on the pregnancy journey again as there is no journey like it and this time we know everything would be so much more better no more hiding and being scared of what family will say its now quite the oposite family are so supportive and all cant wait to see if we can get anouther addition to the family.
we all have our reasons and our problems but in reality we all are striving for the same thing and it is wonderfull that we can do it together on hear Good luck to you woppa enjoy every minite of this journey you and your DH are now on the expierience will be with you for a lifetime and Good luck to everyone else on hear too.
Sorry for writing so much just felt like sharing my thoughts with you all.

Been sick as a dog all day and it was wonderful !!! Went shopping to buy new undies and spent a fortune. Used the puppy dog eyes on Dougie and got what I wanted!!
Visited the loo for the hourly knicker check only to discover a wee boy puking everywhere. Must have been the nursery nurse in me and I went over to help. Not very good idea when you have nausea and end up in the next cubicle to him !!
