Alice Margaret Locker is one on 28th March and I want to say obviously how wonderful that is for us, but mainly thanks to all my pals on this site - so much help before during and since the IVF - so grateful for every word of it from every one of you.
We know how fortunate we are.
She is a lovely sweet little girl with the biggest blue eyes and hair that's starting to curl. She has a beautiful gappy smile and is almost walking. She is such a comic and loves to entertain. She says a few words ("lights" "Tiger" "mum" "dad" "thankyou") and loves any songs, the sillier the better. She is our dearest joy. I know you all feel like this about your babes. This first year has flown - it has been hectic and sometimes you'd give anything just for a complete nights sleep or a lie down but just that little face smiling at you and all the exhaustion flies out of the window!!
Love to you all, whatever stage you're at, from me and DH and of course from our miracle, Alice.
Wow it only seems a few months ago when we were on the Pregnant after treatment board and you joined - it's so long ago now!
Alice sounds a perfect joy and the things you said are so true.
Jay will be 14 months old on 27th Jan. He's got big blue eyes, impossibly long eyelashes (unlike mine which are pale and stubby) and has got blond hair - straight on top and curly at the back - like a baby Mullet style!!) He's almost walking, crawls at about a million miles an hour (especially when after the cat!) and loves standing up. He also loves songs as well - and has his own little dances that he does to the theme tubes from Blues Clues, the Wiggles and Dora the Explorer - who he also applauds and gets very over-excited about! He how has 4 teeth and loves to help feed himself although has developed the worrying habit of shoving his fingers down his throat after every meal (am worried that my cooking's that bad!). He's also started shaking his head - so when I tell him to come away from the tv and come over to mummy for example he smiles and shakes his head!! Am finding it really hard not to laugh or smile but to be serious!
In a way his first year has gone by with me and DH in a state of worry or wonder about everything and I'm really glad I kept loads of photo albums otherwise I would have forgotten so much! Like how he was so tiny he used to be in size 1 nappies, tiny baby clothes and fit sideways on the changing mat - and that was almost this time last year.
I feel like he's so precious and that as it's Easter I might say an extra prayer of thanks as it's a special timeof year.
I hope you have a lovely first birthday for Alice and hoep everyone has a happy easter.
love to you all, Sally xxx

We hope that you all have a very special day - Alice's first birthday will be a day to remember for ever, Jo. And the words that you wrote about your precious little girl are beautiful.
I now have two 3 year olds, as of yesterday, and they're still as much of a joy to us as they were back when they turned one (if a little bit more hard work!).

TTC 5 years. Daniel & Charlotte born 22.03.02, 1st ICSI treatment. TTC for 4 further years. 2nd ICSI cycle abandoned, 3rd cycle BFN. Looking forward to being a happy family of 4.
Your post was lovely and firstly I would just like to say HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY TO ALICE, well I am going to sing to her:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2 U
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2 U
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR ALICE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.
Doesn't the time fly by so quick Jo, its only seems like yesterday when we was sharing our pregnancy stories and its brilliant.
I know what you mean about having a lie in, these days never seem to get 5 minutes to myself.
Alex had 12 teeth now and he is 13 months, he is trying his hardest to walk but asn't mastered it yet. He walks round furniture but won't loose just yet but he will do it when he ready.
Have a great time for Alice's Birthday, make sure you post and let us know how it went.
just wanted to post a belated reply wishing Daniel and Charlotte a very happy third birthday.
I've been out of the office over Easter so just got back today so have been catching up.
Did you have a party? I bet they really enjoyed themselves.
I must say though I was a bit worried to say the least to read that they are more hard work than when they were 1. I was sort of hoping that things might get easier?????? Jay is now 14 months and really makes me laugh, and I think I love him more each day. But how do things get harder? Naughtier? Less time? Tell me !!!
How are things going for you - I notice you're on Clomid - how long will you try for before ICSi?
Sorry for being nosey!
love Sally xxx

Hi Sally and thanks for the birthday greetings. Daniel and Charlotte had a lovely birthday and we had a family party - next year they'll start having proper children's parties (nightmare!).
I'm afraid that the tantrums and the need to assert independence seem to have caused more problems than when they were younger. Charlotte was an angelic baby but from the age of 2 onwards has not been an angelic toddler! And Daniel likes to throw a daily tantrum. But they are masses of fun too. Yesterday Charlotte was a pig all morning and would only speak in different tones of 'Oink'! And Daniel has amazing obsessions (the latest one is the film 'The Incredibles') and can tell you all sorts of information about his specialist subject.
We went to see our consultant back in October, expecting to be referred for more ICSI. But she's put us on Clomid while we have assorted tests (which is a bit frustrating as I'm not getting any younger). And there's a waiting list for my HSG so we can't move forward yet. I've now done 6 unsuccessful months of Clomid and have another 2 months' worth in the packet. As for the ICSI, it's now not going to happen any time soon 'cos I've just got a new job in a new area (starting in September) so all of our ICSI savings will go on moving expenses. What are your plans?
Take care.
Jules

1st IVF - Easter 2002 - neg
2nd IVF - Summer 2002 - pos, but M/C 8 wks
3rd IVF Summer 2003 - pos with beautiful baby boy
April 2006 - miracles happen - positive naturally day after receiving IVF letter to start again! Another beautiful boy
A piggy - how gorgeous - I bet you found it hard keeping a straight face. It's amazing isn;t it that their little personalities are so forceful. Am rather worried that Jay is going to be very stubborn - he's 14 months and the other day was standing next to the TV - I told him to come away and he stood there (little legs shaking with the effort) and shook his head at me! And he can't even say 'No' yet! My friend is doing his horoscope and says he's going to be a 'character!
Best of luck for you re the Clomid - you are brave going through everytthing again. I know what you mean about time delays though - how totally frustrating. Remember back to the old boards - PMA!!!! - hopefully it will work so you won't have to go through the ICSI again though.
DH and I had a long chat and have decided that we're not going to try again - in a way it makes me quite sad to have the option taken away, but there are so many factors against that we wont do itagain (I'm 38, can't afford any more goes what with extortionate nursery fees, I have severe endo, DH poor sperm, I'm rh neg, then when they did the section it had to be quite high up the uterus because of the endo so they said we would need to wait at least 2 years, also I had a total placenta previa so had to be in hosp for 4 weeks - in a second baby would be at more risk so in the event of a previia would have to be hospitalised for the last few months, and also they nearly had to do a hysterectomy as I lost nearly 3 litres of blood so it was a bit scary! I saw my IVF/endo consultant after Jay was born and he said (jokingly) that if we wanted another try he'd refer us to a colleague as he couldn't stand the stress again!) - So on balance just feel that I would be tempting fate in a way to try again - both Jay and I were fine when he was born so I'm just so thankful that I don't want to appear ungrateful and greedy - does this make sense?
I think that if all those factors weren't present that we would consider another go, but because they are - we won't!!
I really hope you have a BFP before you have to go through more ICSI - I am sending you any baby dust that I might have had left on my person, just so it doesn't go to waste!
keep us posted love Sally xxx
