IVF for Single Woman - Help!!!

Hi I wondered if anyone knew of a clinic that would treat a single woman? I was married until recently, but husband decided to sleep with ex and got her pregnant!!!! We were due to start treatment after Christmas. I would still dearly love to have a baby, but don't know what to do. Because of my age I cannot afford to wait too long. Can anyone help? Thank you June

What a sad story. B^%$()*&!!!!! for doing that to you. I dont know what the proceddure is for single people but I'm sure someone will--this page is a maze of people in the know!!! Hopefully you will get some answers soon Love Elaine xx

Hi June, Although I've been lucky and not had to go through this alone, I had to face the real possibility of this earlier this year when my hubs decided I'd be better off without him. I am being treated at MFS in Manchester who are willing to treat single women, and I don't think they are the only ones around the UK. The best thing is to start by contacting the place you were due to start treatment with. If they're not helpful, try another clinic - or HFEA. I think they'll be looking for you having emotionally recovered from the break-up - I know this sounds awful because it can take years, but what I'm saying is that I don't think they would recommend starting treatment only a few months after. I know all you want is to get on, but those extra months can mean being much more prepared mentally. The other issue is support. You would stand a better chance of being accepted if you can show a family or close friend is as supportive as a partner would be. These are only my opinions, and sorry if they are upsetting but you may have read, treatment is a rollercoaster in itself without starting off from an unsteady base. It could do you more damage than good. I wish you all the best of luck in finding a solution and getting your dream - keep us posted on what you find out - I'm sure there will be others who will benefit from your experience in the future and we'll be here for any bad times - and to share the good ones!.
