Hi

I have to say that since I started IVF my AF has been really unpredictable :x :x - I can now be up to 8 days late ...

Hi Lesley and girls..

comment on the AF thing - I don't want to scare anyone but I'd hate someone to go what I went through. When 30-31 I started to get murderous AF with a lot of extreme pain  , then they put me on the pill (dh had vasectomy at the time so I wasn't taking anything), I came off after 3 months and after that started to have late or early AF or constant spotting between times. They Scanned me and found fibroids (intramural so they can't be removed if the womb is to stay there). Anyway, they said they are made worse by oestrogen so they'll go when I have my menopause.. (yes you guessed the gynea was a man). AF continued to mess about, but as there was an AF each month Drs said not to worry - and I like an idiot believed them.

It wasn't until we started ttc (i was then 37) that dh had his reversal and they checked me I thought as a formality and found signs of perimenopause, after the IUI with only one follicle, they did Ovarian fuinction test and found POF (premature ovarian failure). They said they hadn't done it before as it was expensive ( ) - about £250 if I remember they have to use a live mouse or something  by that time we had spent £loads on IUI for nothing so I was p..ed off

I am just giving my history as if someone had tested for Ovarian function earlier I would have known I had a short time for IVF with own eggs, as it was by the time they did that test it was too late, so I wouldn't take AF mucking about lightly if I had my time again.

Don't want to worry any one  just think everyone reacts differently to hormone treatement and you never know what might be lurking or have been triggered -making sure is a good idea

Emma - Big Congrats!!! Glad that March ended in a positive note

Sammy - think you're doing the right thing - about taking a break for the summer - we are going to give it another go but not sure when yet - all we know is that we have to wait at least 3 months before we can try again and I shudder at the thought of going through it again!!!! Want to feel normal for a while before we go through it again! Stomach is abnormally bloated - don't know how long this is sposed to last!!!! Anyway take of yourself. Luv Amers xxx

Hi Taylorjools, I will mention it at my follow up appointment.

I've always been convinced I am producing bad eggs!,on my first round I produced seven eggs but only one fertilised (I think I've got hard shells)so that's why we did ISCI the 2nd time.

The other problem I have is that the internal scan equipment only found my left ovary both times, I have no right tube (born with it missing) and the docs think the ovary is too low down on the right as it hasn't anything to be attached to and didn't ascend upwards (like 'normal' people) when I was developing. I have asked my GP to refer me back to the NHS gyny to do some more tests to see if it can be found and moved, it was very frustrating knowing that I potentially had a few more eggs but they were out of reach.

Hello all, and thanks for the congrats. Those of you who are in the bad news state, hang in there, I had 8 procedures with my first son, the 8th finally worked b/c I used an egg donor. My eggs were very bad(Premature Ovarian Failure at age 27). Keep the faith , I think about all of you and pray...things will look up. Now we got the same donor and are pregnant again...Good luck to all and thanks again for the support!

Love, Kerry

thanks Sandra, that was what I was thinking but perhaps didn't make that clear - which wouldn't be remotely surprising right now!

Hi I am not sure where to write, but a few of you know of me..I had a HCG of 100 on March 31st(Thurs). I had a repeat HCG yesterday and it was still 100. THis is about 85% bad says my IVF specialist. I am in hysterics. Forget about the 27,000 dollars we just gave them, I am an emotional wreck. I am having my blood drawn tomorrow am. It was such a high all weekend long. This is not fair. Maybe Debra or someone can tell me where to write in this forum, Thans.

Hi Kerry - your post is fine just where it is. Don't worry.

You must have had a terrible last 24 hours. I am really hoping you hear some better news tomorrow.

As you say, it's just not fair - to have gone through the whole process, and to now be in limbo once again.

I've got everything crossed for you Kerry. Your dr says 85% bad news. That leaves the other 15% ... Try to think positive. I know just how difficult this will be for you, and you might even think I'm silly to suggest it. Try to imagine your embi trying to nest in .. s/he needs you to be calm and strong and +ve. Don't give up.

Take care
