What's your estimate?

Post by SSgtWife »

I'm a newbie and also a military wife. I read different quotes for expenses for the different medications and every now a then a procedure. I now this is a bit personal, but what fees did you all inquire? What was the most costly fee? Also, could anyone tell me what I should expect for IVF or ICSI? I'm awaiting lab test to know which way we're heading. TIA

for me in the states we had to both have med checks on us. like sperm and eggs and aids and i had to also have a mamogram to make sure i didnt have breast cancer and a full check up.
then they did a in depth scan i had to be put under to check on my tubes to make sure i wouldnt end up with a baby in one.
then came trying different meds.
i was on clomid. lupron, estrace, progestrone shots & vag. and a baby asprin.
then when everything went right they would do the et
then i went back in and had the transfer then in 2 wks i was pregnant.

we had scans every wk...
your doctor office should beable to get you a print out of how much it all cost .. ask for a detail list and call a couple of different pharmacys.
plush your insurance should pick up some..

good luck and i hope this helped a little.

Hi there and welcome

You will find this site amazing :D

The first hospital we used was £3,500 and the new one is £7,000 - it's difficult to estimate because in some there are loads of hidden extras and some places you can get assistance with the cost of the drugs.

ICSI is more expensive than IVF as far as I know.

Hope this helps a little.

Hi SSgt Wife

you are welcome here, do feel free to talk about all kinds of stuff..

My cousin is the wife of a British Airforce Officer so I know how being moved around can be hard.

The cost thing is a toughy as it really depends (as LittleP andBecky have already said) on your situation, and where you are...

In the UK we paid around £2,500 for an IUI but that included a lot of diagnostic tests that we couldn't get covered by our insurance (or not without a mega waiting list). We are expecting to pay something like €7-9,000 for IVF with donor eggs in Spain hopefully including an FETbut again that's just an estimate no idea really if that's +/- realistic...that doesn't include travel costs etc

I think the answer is, you need to be strong and ask clinics directly to be up front

Hope that helps
