August, September and October due dates

Post by Wendy »

Hiya, Anyone due in these months may want to start on this new thread. I've been posting on first trimester buddies, but its getting confusing (and long) as I'm now in my second trimester due 15th sept, so I thought anyone due around these months might want to join in. Hopefully Kelly and Edi will join in with me at least !!

Anyway I'm coming up to week 18 and have my 4mth scan on friday so really looking forward to hopefully finding out the sex.

ttfn love Wendy xxx

Hey Wendy!
As you know, my due date is tentatively September 9th. I'll be 18 weeks on Thursday and going for my 4 mth scan on Friday as well! I am so excited I can barely wait! They told us we can bring a VHS tape to record the baby, so I'm hoping he/she is active Friday morning =) At the very least I hope Baby P cooperates and reveals his/her identity. We just want to name this baby already!

My belly is getting pretty big now. Kind of fun to watch! DH is loving it. He can't wait until I'm huge??! At my last check up my doctor told me that he "generally likes to see women with about 7-8 more pounds on them by the time of my next appointment". That's at the end of this month! Not sure I can add 7-8 more lbs. that quickly, but we'll see.

How are you feeling these days? I've been feeling great! Can't believe it actually. Tiredness is long gone, no more ligament pains, no more bleeding (thank goodness!)! We've been pretty busy lately too. DH started his MBA program in the middle of March. That was a slight adjustment for both of us. I've been busy looking for houses, and remodeling our bathrooms so we can put our place on the market. Have you guys started on your addition yet?

Well ... gotta run! Edi where are you???

Love,
Kelly

Add us !!!

Post by Wendy »

Hi kelly and shell - yes add us please do.
I'm a bit confused as I'm 18wks on thursday too but my due date works out as the 15th - the dr hasn't actually said a date to me so I did it on one of those pregnancy calculators, perhaps we are due the same day !!! Mind you they rarely come on time, Benjamin was 5 days early which was a huge relief - I would of gone mad if he'd been late - you are just soooooooooooooo enormas at the end, don't wish it on yourself too early, but it does happen and you get so you can't even turn over in bed. I'm only 4'10 and Benjamin was normal size at 8 lb 1 oz, so he just completely took over me ! I felt like I should get some excercise every day, so we'd go to the supermarket and I'd get to the fruit and veg just through the front door and have to go back to the car as I was shattered !!! ( yes i'd only walked from the car park - not from home !!!)

BUT I DON'T CARE - I love getting big and Chris loves it too - he finds it very sexy !!!

I'm ok, really excited about the scan on friday too. I have got a bad back though - I had it last time, but the dr gave us some excercises which puts things back in place !! Other than that I feel good.

Boy, you are busy, but good to get things done early. We havn't started on our extension yet as Chris is too busy, he's planning on doing it in june, it shouldn't take him too long hopefully as I'm dying to decorate the nursery.

speak soon, love wendy xxx

Hi Girls,

Yes it's me I'm alive and well, just snowed under by a variety of things including work and an infection in my sinuses that I refused to take an antibiotics for. So as a result I was totally whacked out for about 10 days - not sleeping at night and miserable during the day. But it's gone now and I'm feeling much better.

Good initiative to start a new thread, it was time for us "elder lemons" to pass on the mantle of the first trimester.

So sign me up for due date : September 1st

Sounds like you are both really busy getting ready. Can you believe that we are nearly half way through? Good luck to both of you for your scans on friday. I have my 20 week scan on April 13th. So I'll be following you two.

By the way, do either of you know anything about Anti-D? I found out yesterday that my blood group is Rhesus negative (along with only 13% of the population). As DH is positive, they assume that the baby will be positive. Herein lies the problem: If any of the blood from the baby leeches into my system then I'll create antibodies to fight it off. Could cause some problems for this baby but really they are more concerned about future ones. To counteract this from potentially happening they want me to have an injection of blood called Anti-D at 28 weeks, 34 weeks and after the baby is born.
In principle you would think that's no big deal but after all the scare stories about dodgy blood products I'm a bit unsure about accepting blood. Am I being over-sensitive? Should I just get on with it, take the injections and look at it as just another step?
Any thoughts?

Hugs,
Edi

Good morning!

Michelle - not sure if you'll see this, but I guess it's okay to add my name to your "due dates" list. I was going to hold off until after my 4 mth scan (which is this Friday), but I guess that's kind of silly. Sept. 9th is my due date.

Welcome back Edi! I think we all fell silent for a while there. It is fun having a new thread though. Thanks Wendy =) As for the Rhesus factor. I recall reading that it's only a problem when the mother is negative, father is positive and baby is positive. And from there it's only a problem for future pregnancies, not your first. You will only form antibodies to the baby's blood type if you've had bleeding during your pregnancy or at birth, if you had cvs or an amnio done, or any other reason why your blood my mix with the first baby's. At that point your blood will form antibodies that will attack a future baby's blood. This is why they usually offer the Anti-D Immunization. They say that the Rhesus factor used to pose a major problem to mothers and babies, but the immunization has really reduced that risk. If it was me I would go ahead with it (since DH and I would love to have another child), but only you can make the decision.

Wendy - glad you're feeling well too, but it stinks that your back is bothering you. I swear there is nothing worse than back pain. I used to have a sciatica problem years ago (car accident), that drove me mad for a long time. When I started having sciatica problems last month I was demoralized thinking I was going to have to deal with it for months without Advil for relief. Fortunately it seems to have gone away for now, but the good news is that I found that doing leg exercises really seemed to help. It's not something I could do if it acted up in public (dropping to the floor and doing leg lifts would look a bit odd in the grocery store =) but at least I know I won't have to deal with it for long.

Well ... gotta run. Hope you both have a wonderful day!

Kelly

Wendy, Kelly,

Best of luck for your scans tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you and dying to hear whether those tiny babes are boys or girls.

We still haven't agreed on whether we want to find out or not. I want to but DH is against it. He thinks there are few enough surprises in the world as it is. As he's so against it, we probably won't find out next week.

I'm so excited for you both.

Hi Girls,

Is it ok if I join your thread? I think Caroline will too!! We are both officially due late Oct, mine is 26th, but I have been told that 37wks is term for twins so that makes it 5th Oct for me! So we seem to be closer to you girls than anyone else!?
I am getting soo nervous about my 1st NHS scan(nuchal) on Monday. Im sure that I wont be able to sleep Sun night. Mind you am still so tired not a lot seems to stop me!!
Hope your scans went well Wendy and Kelly. Caroline how was yours on Weds???
Wendy, I cant believe you had an 8lb baby, when you are tiny!!! Did you have a C section? If not its making my eyes water!! I am 5'7 so god knows what the equivilant for me would be! Mind you I supppose with two I could be carrying around 10lb plus anyway  . I cant wait to show properly, at the mo I just feel fat.
Edi, my sister in law is re negative, she had my nephew two years ago, who was positive. Everything was fine and she had the jabs, but from what I understood, and as Kelly says, the jabs were more for her 'next baby'(if they choose to have one) than Jack.
One other thing, Kelly and Edi, did you wear those attractive flight socks when you went on your hols? and did you sunbathe your bump?!
Look forward to hearing all your news and hope everyone has a good weekend.
Love Sue

the scan - alls well and.....

Post by Wendy »

ITS A BOY (possibly !!!!!)
Had the scan this evening, alls fine and baby kicking around all over, even though I was starting to get a bit worried as I still can't feel him. Doc was slightly more hesitant this time than with Benjamin, he said the scar tissue from my c section (yes I had a section, there was no way he was coming out the right way - mind you I gave it a good shot, I was in labour for 32 hours !!) makes things a bit blurry, but he thought he saw ( and so did I) his little man bits !! So now we are trying to think of a boys name quickly, as I loved being able to name Benjamin straight away, we already had a girls name (sophie) I'm sure we'll decide quite quickly, I'm going to have a look on the internet in a mo.
I'm having my 5mth anomaly scan at a specialists to just make us more confident hopefully, about refusing the amnio.
I asked about the birth and hes fairly sure I'll be having a c section again as the reason last time was my body not being able to progress quickly enough and the baby being too big for me, rather than the baby being in distress. I'm perfectly happy about that - not that I want to put you girls off having natural births !! So thats going to be the first week of sept, so I'll be a bit earlier than expected.

I only know what I've read about rhesus neg and yes its the subsequent babies that they are preventing problems for. I would go ahead with the treatment - the risk of having problems wrt neg/pos babies is far better documented and researched (and true) than scare stories about blood products. People are having blood products all the time (myself included with various ops) you only ever hear about the times it goes wrong - if it were me I would have the treatment, but its one of those things again that no one else can make the decision for you.

gotta go - coronation streets on !!!!
love to all wendy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Congrats Wendy on your baby BOY!!! Looks like Benjamin's going to have a little brother to pal around with =) Were you guys surprised? I thought I recall you feeling like it was a girl this time. Glad to hear that he's active and kicking all over. That's always nice to see. My friend just had her second C Section. She was fine with it (actually preferred one to natural). I guess healing from the first (baby was breach) wasn't bad at all, so she didn't want to risk the associated problems with having a VBACK with her second. Talking with her about it actually made me think that having a C Section wouldn't be bad at all. Everything else you read makes having a C Section really scarey. So I was happy to hear from someone who was pleased with it. At least you know exactly when the baby's arriving, and you won't have to deal with another 32 hours of labor (you poor thing!). Well ... congrats again!

We're having a GIRL!!! Yes ... we were surprised! I guess ever since that one tech told us (with such certainty) it's a boy, we started to refer to the baby as him. So needless to say we were both stunned when she said it was a girl. We're very happy and thrilled to be able to refer to her as a "her" now. That's the best part of finding out early. Jason's already warning me that he's going to have a really hard time trying not to spoil her. We haven't told our family yet. I think we're going to wait and properly girlify our website to surprise everyone.

The doctor told us she appears perfectly healthy, and without any visible birth defects. He said he saw no reason to do an amnio, which was a huge relief to us. She weighs about 9 oz., which seems a little high for just starting week 18 (most of what I've read states anywhere from 5.5-7.5 oz.). But the doctor wasn't concerned at all with her weight, so neither am I. I've been able to feel her kick since early last week. It is such a wonderful feeling! Now she's kicking so strong that even Jason felt her give me a good one two nights ago. I wasn't expecting him to be able to feel her so early, but her kicks were so strong I thought it couldn't hurt to try.

Sue ... good luck with your nuchal on Monday. I'm sure everything will be fine. I was a nervous wreck too, but then it's so exciting when you get to see your baby moving all around (in your case babies). How long will you have to wait for the results? For us that was the most stressful part of it since they had to send my blood results out of state to process.

Edi ... good luck with your 20 weeker next week! After today, I am so impressed with anyone who can go the whole 9 mths without find out. But what a fabulous surprise in the end! Glad to hear that your sinus infection is under control. I guess it's that time of year. I know my allergies are driving me mad right now. All the spring blooms are getting to me, but I'm still happy winter is almost over. I'll take the spring sneezing and headaches any day over the cold.

Sorry for rambling on. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Love ya,
Kelly

Wonderful news kelly.
Of course you and I both know you are thrilled whatever it turns out to be - a healthy baby is all any of us want. It was Chris who thought it was a girl - I honestly had no idea but my symptoms were so different I thought maybe it was - you never know he could always turn out to be a she - the dr wasn't very sure really, but we are thrilled anyway and can't wait to think of a boys name so we can name him. Edi, you must have some will power not to find out but saying that - its gotta be one or the other !!!
C- sections are a dream !! especially after being in labour so long. I would of loved a quick natural birth but it wasn't to be and given the option I'll definately go for a c sec. Its not scarey at all (assuming you arn't phobic about stuff like that) the recovery isn't that bad I was up and about in no time.
gotta go Benjamins woken up, poor things got a cold.
loads of love Wendy xxx
