I am going for my first IVF treatment next month. I am currently on birth control pills. In the schedule they gave me I have to have 9 weeks of progestrone in oil shots. I am too afraid of needles and that too intramascular shots too scary. Doctor gave me Elma cream to apply an hour before the shots. I wanted to know does that really numbs the area well? I will not feel the medication going in? Anyone can ease my fears?
Hi Firstivf ... There was recently (I'd say last 2 or 3 weeks) a post from someone else who was using Elma cream. I remember as I'd never heard of it before. I hope they see your post and can reassure you ....

Hi firstivf - I was given Elma cream on the back of my hands before having the injection for operation and it was fantastic, I didn't feel a thing.
It does need an hour to work. I am not comfortable with needles, but I have to say that the Gestone injections that I had to have (in my bottom) were actually not that bad
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that the cream is really good and will definitely help you
