well spotted Gail, it looks wonderful doesn't it?? I know CERAM in Marbella have a similar approach so you only travel once, but then for a longer time (up to 2 weeks) for the EC thru ET phase also with Deggs..didn't see anything about DE on their site - did I miss it???

At the moment I am happy with IM's approach, for us it's important to have a first meeting with them, before it all starts, and we get 2 doctors at that appointment, 1 Spanish (the famous Dr O/George Clooney) and 1 English. I really want to be sure exactly about how it will run, as we have MF as well. I guess the price is high, also with the 2 trips, but the flights aren't too bad (I paid £150 each) and we've found a cheap hotel..and we both love Barcelona  I like the idea of lying on the beach waiting for a call though!!!

Psychologically I am prepared for us to have to go through a few cycles before it works so who knows???

I didnt notice anything about DE on the site. Have you got a web address for Barcelona please :?: Im just expolring all options at the moment. I have to say one of the things that might put me off Greece is that it's all done over the phone at the start. Whereas you get to meet the lovely Dr O/George Clooney :!: and chat about it all.

I couldnt find any prices but I have emailed them to send me a brochure so will let you know if I get one :)

Hi gail

yes www.institutomarques.com - process is first visit (couple of hours), then EC/ET 4-6 weeks later (3-7 days depending on DE status, if blasto etc)

IVI (I think it's www.ivi.es) also do a first meeting and are a bit cheaper than IM. Their main office is in Valencia, but I think they have a waiting list for donors of a couple of months, not sure??

We chose IM as I found loads of good refernces and experiences on the boards and they claim a very high success rate, but I am sure that ivi is excellent too 8)

Love bigJ 8)

Gail, Joy (LongBayGirl) has just had a successful tmt in Kiev. She paid about half of the Spanish costs (BigJ choked!!!!) and said the facilities were excellent. You might want to read her posts. She had straight ivf though not DE.

good luck
Debra.

Thanks Debra, I will look at those posts. Mine should hopefully be straight IVF. Ive heard that having IVF with a holiday included makes you more relaxed, not sure how true that is though. :D

I think the idea is really good, my main concern would be having to fly back after the ET - what if my little embryoes were air-sick  :? :!:

That would be one of my worries and also how much extra time I would have to take off work. Not sure they would be very understanding :!:

Hi Guys, interesting thread- for all you brave bunnies!! Did any of you see the last Precious Babies - that was about a woman who went abroad for it. She had to do it all over the phone and didn't even know if she had taken the drugs properly but hey ho - it worked!! lucky her! I have my appointment on Tuesday and then I think we will start IVF straight after (so i'm told) and I am an absolute bag of nerves. Anyone who can endure flying, the heat and understanding a foreign language into the bargain has my complete respect!! Best of luck to you all xx

Hi Harri

Haven't seen you around for ages - how are you going?

Good luck with the appointment and hope you get to go straight into the treatment. Let us know what happens.

Fingers crossed for you.

Hi all, just to say I have emailed both Institutomarques and ivi.es after reading your messages. I'll let you know what they say... am quite excited in a funny sort of way (anyone reading any of my other posts will know I am not 100% sure about this donor egg business) maybe I will get somewhere with them, who knows. Is it mega-expensive in Spain?
Kat xx

Hi all, nice that this thread has woken some interest!!

Kat - if you want to chat about donor egg decision happy to share my experience

Nicola - passport arrived thx to PMA from all the girls especially LittleP 8)

Saw the precious babes - thanks to Sand who sent it out to me  they were at CERAM where they do the first bit with a detailed questionnaire. I wouldn't want to do that, although I think they were "very English about it  " I am sure they would have had more contact and info if they'd sought it. We are going to IM as we do a first appointment (14th April  ) and we get proper consultation (2 Drs -Dr O Spanish and another who is English. That way we agree the exact path of our IVF, use of fresh sperm etc . IVI do the same as far as I know. Language will not be a barrier, we have exchanged emails in English with no problem so far and they answer really quickly. As we will have a brown-eyed donor no waiting list. We are intending to enjoy the breaks as well, since I was ill last year we haven't had a holiday for ages  Spain is expensive, but it "suits us" and they have lots of experience with Brit/German women and a very good success rate, so fingers x'ed....Jude has already been there and just had FET if you look at her posts..

Love and kisses bigJ 8)
