stims doses - reassurance needed!

Hi all - I'm looking for some advice/reassurance as this cycle (my third) doesn't seem to be going like the previous two. The previous times I've sailed through the stims stages, and after every blood test/scan they've just said carry on with 150mils of drugs - the dose has never changed. But this time I went in after day 3 of stimming and they said to up the dose to 225mils(or mgs, or whatever units they use!), and after day 4 they've upped it to 300mg. I went back in this morning so god knows what dose I'll be on tonight! I asked this morning whether there was any reason why I didn't seem to be responding to the drugs so well this time and whether there was anything else I could do to respond better (apart from drinking lots) and was just told to pray - I think my doctor has a slightly odd sense of humour! Has anyone else had this sort of experience (with the doses, rather than necessarily a dr with a dodgy sense of humour!)? Did you get a reasonable number of eggs. Before its gone wrong at the implantation stage but I'm just getting slightly worried that this cycle we might not make it that far. Thanks a lot Alison x

hi how was it?? did they up your stimms?? they do up or reduce the doses according to you over or under responding to the drugs. i never had that but they mad me carry on longer on stims as my follies was so small. but i produced 9 follies which is small compaired to some girls.....like they say you only need 1 for it to work. good luck and try not to worry.......your be on your 2ww very soon. beck x

Hi Alison, I'd had 3 cycles so far and all of them were different. The first one was the most difficult and I was started on the 300 dose and upped to 450 for last 6 days and there were noises made that the cycle may be abondoned.The injections went on for days and days!!!!! The second one was the best and lasted a week on 300 dose. The last one started at 300 and was upped to 375 but I was scanned every other day and it wasn't as bad as the 1st one. Didn't have many follicles and there were no embryos leftover from each cycle to freeze!!!! The doctors scan and fine tune the doses according to how you are responding and they are always worried about over stimulating the ovaries.So,I wouldn't worry if I were you. And at the end,it only takes one egg and one sperm to make it worthwhile!!!!

Thanks for your replies - well tonight's dose is 450 units! What you've both said though ties in with what they said when they phoned, so I'm feeling a bit less anxious. Other good news is that I don't have to go back til Monday (hurrah, lie in tomorrow!) Anyway, I'm off to the pub for a swift orange juice in celebration before coming home for tonight's mega-dose!
