Has anyone experienced this before ??

Post by km »

After a successful egg transfer ( three embryos grade 1) only to find out after the first blood test negative and also had an initial period, however I have not had another period since (and) I am now 15 days late on the second.

Many thoughts going through my head, how can this be ? is there a chance the first test was unconclusive? at this moment in time dont have the courage to atempt another test until at least another week or so, can anyone share any similar circumstance ?

I’m not sure that the period you experience after a –ve result can necessarily be classed as a proper period, and often the next one after that will arrive late (mine certainly was after my +ve/-ve experience in December). It takes a bit of time for your cycle to get back to normal. However, I think it’s worth you testing again just to be on the safe side.

Hi KM - I think its unlikely that the blood test was inconclusive. You (should have been) told if it was a low positive and be tested again. Two alternative theories:

On the negative side: its not uncommon for women's cycles to be messed up after IVF, and later periods to be late.

On the positive side: there seems to be some evidence (and stories on this board) that women's fertility can be boosted the month after IVF, and I've seen 2 or 3 women fall PG naturally the month after IVF.

Hoping its the latter in your case!

Km, I've had late periods after tmt. It can take a month or two to get back into a more regular cycle again.

I hope for your sake, Alison's 2nd possibility is true for you. An hpt will tell you one way or another.

good luck,
Debra

Hi KM, my system is always messed up after treatment. In fact AF has been known to be over 3 weeks late on my first AF after a -ve.

But I would test again just to be sure.

Hi,
sorry not the news you are hoping for.. I also had my 2nd period 2 weeks late. I do think it is still worth testing again if you can be strong and ready for the fact it could be another -tive.

All the best x
