Hi Harri,
I'm sorry to hear about your dilema......
I grew up in a country that has malaria and when ever my Mum travels back, she doesn't take the meds because it makes her so ill. I have a good friend who is a ranger and he reckons it's sometimes better not to take the meds..... the meds can surpress any symtoms of malaria. The minute you have the slightest feelings of flu..... get down to your doc :!: I really wouldn't worry too much, malaria is serious, but most of the serious cases are ones where people haven't been able to get medical attention.
All I can recommend is to cover up and the parts of skin that do show.... smother them with loads of cream.
I hope your dh has a good time

Thanks everyone, you've all made me feel so much better. I was feeling really guilty for secretly being glad dh had decided not to take them but now i've read some of your posts I realise that what I had thought was true - that lots of people chose not to take them and it's okay.
It's probably tempting fate to say this but he never gets bitten when we go abroad and he's really fit anyway - I can only remember him being ill probably once in the 7 years i've known him so I think he will be fine. apparently there are some good alternative creams so i'm going to stock him up on those! he's only going to actually be there for 3 days anyway so hopefully he will be okay. I had actually come to terms with waiting 3 months after my outburst yesterday (somehow I always think that a miracle will happen and I will fall naturally so I tried to console myself that mayb that will happen!) :D
Anyway, thank you so much for your support. it really has meant alot. I nearly didn't post it but it's amazing how people's views can realy take the weight off your shoulders. Can't thank you enough x

It's so nice to hear you sounding more positive :D

Obviously things are brighter for you today which is wonderful. Keep full of PMA and if you need a shoulder again you know where to come :!:

Take care

I can't believe how much information there is out there that some of us don't get can you?

Since moving to my new clinic, I have learnt more in just a couple of visits than I did in the 18 months with the previous place - not to mention all the help and advice you girls have given me

How are you getting on :?:

Hi Joanne and Little P ... Yeah - it's crazy .. there should be some basic handbook of "Dos and Don'ts"

I'm okay ta ... have had a bad head again, and have had funny twinges today around the ovaries ... suppose it must be these HRT tablets doing their stuff .. !!

Sounds like you could use some PMA. Those b*^$%y headaches are a real pain aren't they? I hope that this one disappears quickly and you get some R&R.

Hope that things improve for you - big hugs and best wishes

I see you have had a lot of replies re not taking malaria pills, but I did a lot of traveling in my single days and have been cabin crew for 11 years but I stopped taking them years ago I just put tonns of anti mosquito spray, some places that you go to people who live there just laugh and say there is no malaria there(southern thailand and goa)
