Monitors and Breathing Monitors

Post by Guest »

Hi Girls

I am a bit confused and have a quick question for you!

I have been doing my research on monitors and have been particularly interested in the Tommy Tippee Resassurance 8 monitor.

I want a breathing monitor too............does the reassurance 8 include this or is there a better one that I can buy separately OR is it all a pile of poo and I would be better off with a different monitor altogether??

Also.......to use the breathing monitors, you have to have a foam mattress......does this pose more of a risk for cot death than the sprung mattresses??

Hope I have made some sort of sense and someone can enlighten me!

Dear Jen

I can't really help too much but I'm glad you've asked the questions about the monitors and mattresses because it's something I've just started to think about.

I went onto the Mothercare website and looked up the Tommee Tippee Reasurrance 8 and it does have a sensor pad to monitor the baby's breathing.

www.mothercare.com

Hope this helps a little bit

Jen:

My good friends had the breathing monitor and they said that when the babies moved away from it too much it went off and woke them up all of the time for no reason.

Though, I catch myself going into the babies room at night to make sure she's ok! It's a catch 22.

Thanks for the help girls........it is a difficult one........I have heard that they do go off all the time, but not sure which is the lesser of two evils??!!

we have the angelcare monitor and can highly recommend it. We have it on the highest setting so even if she rolls of the sensor it still pics her up.
Ours has only gone off once and that was last week and she is 10 months old. Gawd know how she did it but she was in the corner of her cot in a ball.
