I saw my dr. today. He's worried I might have premature ovarian disorder. Great!!! On top of not ovulating, my FSH was way to high so I might have an early menopause. He referred me offpost to another RE. I see him May 10 and dh still has to follow up with the urologist on May 9.
I have to redo the HSG b/c the dr. that did the test didn't watch to see if the dye spilled out, which means my tubes might be blocked and dh has to redo his SA just so they have a second test to go on.
My dr. said I should be really glad I decided to have this testing done otherwise I could be in worst shape. If in fact i do have premature ovarian failure/disorder, then he wants to do IVF using our eggs if at all possible so we don't have to use donor eggs and he's gonna freeze some embryos to use later.
I'm so upset. I can't help but think I'm cursed. I don't know if I should blame myself or my genes for this.
Dh says not to worry it's ok. I know he's trying to be understanding about it, but grr I feel like even if we use donor eggs, the baby really isn't mine. It's his and someone elses.
of my gosh... i am so glad that you did the tests...
it must have hit pretty hard.. i am so sorry..
if it helps i went threw early menapause and we got pregnant with twins..
and when we first started we where worried if we used donated embies and we decided that no matter what what ever child we got or baby that how could we not love him or her..
we have had teen agers come into our home and after a year people swear that they are our birth children.. they learn from you and there manaresums start to become yours..
and i know for me i love each and everyone of them.. i cant think of how i could love my own more..
we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives
and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!
Sorry you are feeling so low because of your results. You have got lots to think about. Personally I know that how ever we end up having our family we will love our children dearly.
Thinking of you
Kerry
I am so sorry to hear your news.... I won't pretend I know how you feel.
It must be terribly hard for you, the dr sounds pretty determined to get you your baby, which is a good start. If you do have to opt for donour, at least you will carry that child from the age of a pinprick No one need ever know. I heard somewhere last year that 75% of people who used donour eggs or sperm, never told anyone
You'll love that baby no matter what.... as Becky said......

Hi SSgtWife ... I'm sorry you've had a shock with this news, but obviously it would be worse finding out later when it's too late ... Let's hope your apptmt on 10 May sheds a little more light on what's necessary.
There's a great book called "Fertility and Conception" by Zita West that you should consider buying. It's packed with really useful and interesting info. In one part Zita explains ways that she feels may bring down FSH levels.
I don't think you need to go as far as thinking about donor eggs just yet ?? This will only stress you out more than necessary, when you might not even have to consider it. Just take it a day at a time.

Tyakeia, I agree the shock must have been a nasty one but your doctor still sounds very positive that you will be pregnant and have a baby one day. 40 weeks is a very, very long time, I promise even if you have donor eggs, by the time that baby arrives, after you've fed, protected, nourished and given it life for 9m - it's 100% yours.
I know the rest results weren't what you wanted (what was your FSH by the way?) but does it help to think that only a few years ago these tests didn't exist and you wouldn't have known how to move forward?
The Zita West book is British so your library might not have it. Ask if they'll order it for you though, or Amazon have it.
Good luck on the 10th

So sorry about the news... I do hope eveything will turn out for the best with your next app. I suppose it seems too much to take in but give yourself time.
Hi SSgtWife .. The books gives interpretations for the different levels :
less than 6 = Excellent
6-8 = Normal
8-10 = Fair
10-12 = Lower than normal. Reduced live birth rate
12-17 = Marked Reduction in IVF response and low live birth rate
More than 17 = Very poor. No live birth rate.
So, I wouldn't class 11 as being "way too high".... The book will suggest how you can bring it down, and reducing stress levels is one of the factors !!

I'm so sorry to hear of your news and I do know what you are feeling. I was also diagnosed with POF in August. I have since had the exploratory surgery and ALL the testing. We are currently in our first IVF cycle. Our retrieval was today and ET is next thurs. The emotions that you are feeling are perfectly normal - I felt the same way! Just take one day at a time and see your RE.
