Caroline,

Congratulations on your scan! I think DH has the right idea, too. When I saw those little heartbeats, I told everyone, even complete strangers. I also wanted to enjoy it completely, even if it didn't last. I'm so glad I did.

Good luck for a happy, healthy pregnancy.

This is Debra's space!

You already know if you are pregnant or not. Your intuition does not lie.

Days before I tested I was talking to my best friend and I told her that... I would be surprised if I were not pregnant.
And then these thoughts scared me to death and I tried to protect myself... no, this is wishfull thinking blablabla.... but I knew I was right... I never have had thoughts like this before! Or spoken out these thoughts!

So we wait for Debra!

and...............now I'm here!

So unbelievably happy, sitting with a silly grin on my face. I'll hover between the boards for a while I think but will join you full time around scan-time I hope.

Fingers crossed this time. Hugs to everyone, this group has done so amazingly well. We deserve it.

Debra

Well done, although I do not know your history, I am sure like all of us getting a +ive over 40 is an achievement even without any medical fertility problems.

I am sure that the support of this group will be just as important through the pregnancy as the lead up to it.

Many congratulations to you and your partner, we all look forward together to be in being mature Mums!

thanks Caroline + Jude.

Caroline, I've attached my history this time, sorry. I was 41 in March and had my tubes tied at 27 in my previous marriage. I'd never been pg nor even tried when I was sterilised so had no idea of what I'd have to do when I changed my mind. IVF is a truly wonderful thing.

Debra,
I'm thrilled to see you over here. I've been following you on the "Over 40" thread, and couldn't help but think it wouldn't be long! You've been a huge support to so many women on this thread.

Wishing you and DH a big, warm congratulations!

hmmm Alette, don't say what I'm thinking please!

I've posted this elsewhere too but my Day 13 count was over 500. The clinic laughed and said they wouldn't be surprised it's more than one. I just have to hope that this old body can cope :D

How are you doing? Starting to relax into your pregnancy yet?

:D :D :D

this would be great, wouldn't it??

Yóur body already knows how to carry one child, that's an advantage...! so I presume 2 would be no problem?!

Oh Debra, imagine...!!

:D :D :D

Thanks, I am not entirely confident yet but I have to keep the faith...
on the 9th of may I have this Nuchal Measurement... so another sign of life of the baby I hope....

Alette, good luck with the Nuchal.

Like many tests they aren't allowed here so provided the scan shows good news on 13th, I'll have to start thinking about which tests I want and where to take them. CVS is also not allowed here so I might have to travel to the UK to take it but am not sure how to arrange it as obviously I don't have a UK doctor who knows about tmt. I might look for a private clinic that will test. I can have amnio here but it's hard bloody work and they make you practically beg for it, then go through anti-amnio counselling for an hour one week beforehand. I love some things about this country but other things stink.

All worries for the future, not now.

Hi Debra

Seems like its a hassle to get some scans done over there.

I'm not sure where you would be if you came to the UK but there's a new private clinic just opened up near us (Wimbledon) called St Georges House Clinic - its part of the London Fertility Clinic & we just walked in & booked an early pregnancy scan. As our treatment was carried out in Spain & as much as I loved Barcelona, it was a long way to go for a scan!

Our GP is a miserable soandso, he refused to accept my calculation of my EDD (based on the calculator on this website) & said it was 2 weeks later. He then went on about how 3 embryo transfers were illegal in the UK & that our chosen hospital probably wouldn't take us if we were expecting triplets. I still think its twins at the most & when we went to the hospital to deliver are booking request they just laughed & said let us know.

Finally, he got really snotty when we said we intended to go the walk in Early Pegnancy Clinic at another hospital for a scan as it was only for people with known problems, despite being advised to do this last time by another doctor at the surgery. Could feel DH's anger rising so I bundled him out very quick & we decided to have it done privately next Thursday.

The only good thing to come out of it was that he did give me a prescription for some more progesterone without moaning. Thanks again to Caroline & Alette for your offer of pessaries but it looks like I'm ok now.

Am feeling absolutley shattered, some thoughtful person was letting off fireworks nearby at 2am this morning, feel nauseous some times but not others, have cramps - these don't feel like AF cramps, they're lower & seem to happen an hour or so after I take the progesterone. I asked George Clooney (Dr Olivares) & he said not to worry so I'm not ( :? yeah right).

I guess the worrying & analysing of twinges etc doesn't stop after the 2ww after all!
