When I decided to join this forum I was feeling completely lost and totally helpless to face the choices we had ahead of us - adoption or donor insemination.

Having joined i know now it was one the wisest decisions in my life because even though i haven't found the miracle answer, i realised i was not alone whether other people shared the same biological problems or not. We were brought together by a common problem which was the pain of not being able to conceive naturally.

One of the things in my mind was learning how men coped with these issues especially donor insemination. But i haven't been very lucky so i decided to start this thread. I'd be very interested in what they have to say about this.

it was dh who said we should do a donated embie..

if one came up .... but there hasnt been one at our clinic..

we also talked aboutadopting a baby..
he was ok with that to..

i think that any person if they want to can bond with any child...
i have said before that alot of times people think that some of our children are from birth ..
and they arnt.. some of them came to us when they where 10 but mostly
teenagers..
they really do start picking up your manarisims...

i do hope that you get some real answers to your question..

good luck becky :)

I agree with Becky, Rita
Post on general board for more responses. My dh prefers to be kept in the dark about what happens to some extent as he finds it all the more nerve racking when he knows what's going on but if I didn't take an interest in that side of things I know he would. He finds the producing a sample bit embarassing as you would expect. He has no problem giving me injections which I'm glad of because I'm sure I couldn't have done that myself. We have just had cycle of iui and dh came to every blood and scan etc and also giving injections and checking on medication he has really felt a part of whole procedure. He saw that his job was to support me and he didi it very well I have to say.
Hope this helps
love lIsa xxxxxxx

When I first found this site, I was looking behalf of dh as we had just found out he had no sperm. So was looking for other men to help him. I did do a post back then for men only. got a few men answer but that was that they never continued the support. So I know there are men there who are in the same boats but they are all so laid back concerning it.

My dh has got his head round it now, but I still need the love and support from this site, I tell him about girls here etc... he just says 'oh'
He doesn't understand how I spend so many hours on this site either!! But he lets me get on with it!!

In the begining it was DH who said lets start trying, I was scared!! But we did and he was great, he was keen to start investugations after 6 months and done all the tests. etc....
It was his idea to do DI and not mine. So really it's been great that he's like that, I know some men think that babies and all that is girls stuff but it aint!

It takes two!!

Chatting about it helps, I Chat about babies, and the future every day. My dh has been great, I am really happy!! The only good thing to come out of our infertility is a stronger marriage!

I think, with DI it's definately got to be his choice, if it isn't then he wont hang in there.
I'm in touch with some other girls who have had DI and it seems that the men who had doubts, have now left the girls holding the baby. And the men who were 100% ok about DI are still the doting daddy's!!

I wish u all the best..... :D
