new here

Post by princess »

Hi everyone, I am new here. I am in my second week of IVF meds. Transfer will take place approx the week of May 8th. Dh and I are using donor egg and donor sperm. The reason for the donor egg are that I have Bipolar disorder and by using a donor egg I will not pass it onto the baby.Dh has no sperm at all. We have been on a waiting list for the last 2 years with an adoption agency, after talking with my doc and finding out a a baby would be fine if I didn't use my own egg We decided to try it. I also have PSOD.
The hormones have me going up and down. I am on Lupron 5 units and estrogen. I go back for the next ultra sound on May 2nd and should be starting the progestrone then. What kind of side effects has everyone else had????? None of my friends understand it all, because they all have kids. So the pain and anguish is something that they can't fully grasp. I would love to be having our own bio children but this is what God has given us and we have to work with it.
Thanks for reading and responding.
Joy

Hi
You've found the right place, everyone here knows the pain anguish you are going through and we all support each other through the tough times as well as celebrate when there is good news.
I found my main side effects were from the down regulating (synarel) I was constantly tierd, achy and a little moody ( although i'm sure DH would say alot moody).
There is some amazingly strong women on this site that have a wealth of knowledge they will willingly share with you.
I wish you all the luck in the world.

Hi there Princess - Welcome to the site. It's good to be able to chat to folk who understand, and between us we have lots of valuable experience.

You must be thrilled that you've reached this stage. Hopefully, our dates won't be too far apart. I say hopefully as I'm doing an FET, and hoping to do ET around 3 May (providing the little embies thaw okay). So, we'll spend some of the 2ww together.

I've never really experienced any side effects from downregging on previous cycles. I'm always tired anyway, so haven't noticed any change there. This cycle though, the Buserelin (downreg drug) has given me the talked about headaches. Also, very emotional. Now also on oestradiol, and finding myself really scatty (the drugs are my excuse anyway !). Can't wait for ET !

Is your progestrone pessaries or jabs ? The pessaries are a little messy. Better if you do them in bed and stay laid down for 20 minutes afterwards. That way you don't lose too much.

Hi Princess
Welcome to the boards. I always find it amazing what can be done. Donor eggs and sperm so you still get the experience of carrying your child and everything that goes with it, you will have your very own miracle. Hopefully we all will. I have just had a cycle of iui so can't comment on most of drugs etc but progesterone made me feel dizzy in the mornings, dh says I'm dizzy all the time, oh well!! Good luck to you

feeling icky

Post by princess »

I don't know what it is, I am thinking perhaps it is the estrogen, but my tongue feels like it gets bigger and I get very light headed. Almost like I have medicine head. I don't know if it is that or just this dang cold/sinus pain that is going on. DH and I are both sick. This stinks.
I am getting so nervous we have the transfer coming up hopefully the week of May 8th. I am looking forward to it , but I am also scared I know those 2 weeks after are going to be the longest of my life. Well guess I just wanted to complain a bit. Thanks for listening.
