Cautiously Optimistic

Help! I had a pregnancy test today and it came back a low positive. They said my hcg level was 4.4... which means pregnant, but low. I have to go back on Friday and have another test. They told me that we could be "cautiously optimistic." Has anyone had this? Does it mean anything. I take it to mean I am pregnant, they just want to make sure my hcg level rises by Friday? Is this a problem?

Let me know if anyone knows or has had a positive experience!

sorry Joy, I cannot help you.

I think it is best you wait.

you would think, a little pregnant does not exist (pregnant is pregnant) but this level is rather low. you could have been pregnant..and that you miscarried very early
(I had the same last summer, level was 5 and I got my period after stopping with progestan)... or that you have to wait till level doubled and trippled and so on....

so the best advice I can give you is to wait. Sorry sorry sorry. I hate myself for telling you.

I will welcome you to this side of the board as like Alette says, pregnant is pregnant!! there have been a few shocks on our thread (2nd trimester bumps - just ask Jenf on our thread!!! - she had a really rocky start!!! Im sure she would be willing to give you some advice and tell you her story - its a bit long for me to repeat and its really not my place!)

Please don't be disheartened yet - lots of girls DO start off with low levels and go on to have happy normal pregnancies. but again, Alette si right - -all you can do is wait now......try to keep up that PMA love!
