elma cream for shots

Post by firstivf »

Hello everyone,

I am going for my first IVF treatment next month. I am currently on birth control pills. In the schedule they gave me I have to have 9 weeks of progestrone in oil shots. I am too afraid of needles and that too intramascular shots too scary. Doctor gave me Elma cream to apply an hour before the shots. I wanted to know does that really numbs the area well? I will not feel the medication going in? Anyone can ease my fears?

Any information will help.
Whatever happens, happens for the best!

Hi. I am undergoing my first IVF, and had a small fear of needles myself. I've been giving myself shots for a while now, and the progesterone IM looks scary - BUT, honestly I can hardly feel a thing and cannot feel the medicine at all. There is no pain involved....well, my hips are incredibly sore, but other than that everything is fine. You will grow accustomed to the shots and your fear will subside.

it looks scary
it sounds scary

but most women
even those who were scared to death
can inject themselves!

there is this expression in Dutch
(I hope it works in English)
that
we are suffering the most from what we fear

try not to worry, it will work, also for you!

(and it is with good purpose!)
after lots of IUI, 4 FETs and 5 IVF's
a babyboy!
