Hi Joe
I'm nearly at the end of my 2ww and was told no alcohol at all and no heavy lifting(have got out of shopping  )
I read that you should have hot baths so I've been showering
Apart from that carried on as usual
Test on fri so we'll know whether it has worked
Doctor told me not to wrap myself in cottonwool so I haven't-hope I don't regret this :?

Agree with all Tricia has said
No orgasms, no baths, no lifting / housework / hoovering.
I'm even refusing to load the dishwasher and put clothes washing on!!!
No alcohol / chocolate (I have however had the odd chocy bar and shandy!!)
No gym / no swimming
No hot water bottles
But do try and keep belly warm. eat warm food ... no ice creams
No sun bathing (but no worry about this in England!!)

I think this is all. I have been driving, going for walks, gone back to work (but using the lift instead of the stairs). Also walked round the shops at the weekend.
Hope this helps

I really wonder whether you all are kidding!?
I cannot believe my eyes when I read this!

I was not told any of these advices!!

little alcohol was told me and for the rest NO ADAPTIONS!
Waiting weeks are already difficult enough!

But I surely understand that we want to make it work and therefor do (or do not ) anything to make it work!

Good luck!!

Alette - Me too ! - My hospital didn't give me ANY advice whatsoever re what to do / what not to do. I have, however, read many things in Zita West's book - most of which have been quoted above by Sophie and londongel. do like the "no sunbathing" though. IT'S SNOWING HERE !!

The advice on this seems to vary considerably from clinic to clinic. My clinic told me that nothing I could do at this point would influence the result. They told me to just do whatever I thought I needed to do....if that meant lying around and doing nothing then I should do that, if my body was telling me to go for a jog then I should go for a jog. There were a couple of medical things that I did have to follow like no baths, swimming, etc to minimise the chances of infection.

I think, just do whatever is going to provide you with peace of mind.

Cheers

I went through 4 x 2ww and each time was told not to swim, high impact exercise, lift anything heavy and avoid stress.

On my 4th go (at the start of this treatment) I asked whether not working would be benefical to implantation. Although there is no evidence whether it helps on not too work, the clinic was prepared to provide me with a letter for my GP to sign me off work for 2 weeks.

I took up this offer (with the support of my boss) and put my feet up for 2 weeks and watched the 1st 3 episodes of the West Wing, avoided contact with most of my friends and spent the rest of the time, whilst DH was at work, on the PC on this message board!

I have no idea why this time worked after 3 failures, but I am sure that the advice, information and support on these boards is invaluable and to be used as much as possible or when needed.

Good luck to all those 2ww'ers and everyone else pushing through the rollacoaster ride of IVF.

CarolineP

PS I had exactly the same physical symptoms throughout all my 2ww's -sore boobs, AF cramps and backache - there was no indication of a +ive or -ive result until I did the tests.

After iui nurse told us we should have sex so my body would think conception was natural. other advice was no heavy lifting, no alcohol, nothing unpasturised and to eat well-cooked meat, same advice as when you are actually pregnant really. I've read on this board advice from others is not to over-do it but do what feels right to you. if you hesitate before doing something then don't do it.
Hope this helps xxxxxxxx
