Just checking in . . .

Post by T.J. »

Hello Everyone,

Just checking in. I know there are several of us testing this week. I've been keeping busy, so I've been able to handle the 2 weeks so far. Now that the cramps have subsided on day 7 (dr's office thought it was my ovaries trying to contract back to normal size after producing 32 eggs), things have been pretty normal. Not sure if I should be feeling anything right now. The only issue I have is all the weight I have gained. I am hoping I can blame this on some part of the IVF process and that I am not permanently gaining weight. It will be worth it if the outcome is positive. Just a little irritated that I can't fit into anything right now. Has anyone else experienced this much weight gain / bloating. I've gone up a whole size  Yikes!

Keeping everything crossed for lots of ++++++++ results this week for everyone!

TJ,

I know just how you feel!! I haven't had severe bloating but when I put on a pair of jeans that have some stretch in them and I feel like I am squishing my insides it can be depressing....I have been wearing "comfy" pants since my ET!!! I am afraid to check sizes!!

Thanks Jamato - it's comforting to know that I am not alone with this symptom (a small price to pay for the grand prize :D )

I just noticed that we both test on May 5th. Hang in there . . . we're on the countdown! This is my first time around, so I am trying to be prepared for whatever the result may be. My dh and I have agreed we will give this a full 3 tries if needed.

Not long for either of you now - stay strong and full of PMA.

I had serious bloating with my last cycle so don't be disheartened.

Hi All
Sandra- thanks for starting this - good luck hope you can join us tomorrow

Maci - I am sorry that you have had such an eventful few days - hope you are feeling better today. High quality is a good sign. One of mine was four cell and one was five but I don't remember them mentioning anything about quality!!

I am at work today - I thought it would take my mind of it - not working though.

Today I feel like just before my AF starts :( - my tummy is a bit achy and bloated got a larger size jeans on that I usually wear!! And I have a headache and I am VERY  irritable and explosive which is exactly how I feel EVERY month before AF arrives so this is concerning me a bit

I have also been telling them to hang on and telling DH to say morning to the babies - we saw them on the screen. The hospital have said that you can test at home so that is what I am going to do next week as they only do a urine test not a blood test (yes we are NHS)

Anyway - pretending to work but not doing much

Hope everyone else is ok
Love

:D Thanks all!! I think TJ and I both appreciate knowing that we all deal with a little bloating and weight gain with IVF.....Is anybody else willingly guzzling water???

Julesg - hang in there!!! Don't give up!!! That cramping could be gas!!

ogr1 - I promised my DH that I wouldn't test early....we both agreed to wait til Thursday....I will also be keeping very busy!!! Work today, meeting with girlfriend tonight, work tomorrow and school tomorrow night....Then I took thursday off but I have a friend who has a bunch of errands to run - as she put it so I am not at home staring at my telephone....

TJ - That is a good approach!! I hope you are lucky on your first try!! This is our second, the first try we did at the end of 2002 and without this kind of support I didn't do so well so it took me awhile to consider trying again! My husband I decided on two consecutive rounds but we are staying positive and praying for this round!!! I had a grade 2 6-cell and 8-cell

Thanks Guys

Jamato you may be right - sorry to be rude but when I am at work it is not easy to get rid of the gas like when you are at hom so it may be that

I feeling postive most of the time - my mum is sure it will work and it will be twins :!: Either way I know it will work someday (fingers crossed)

Thanks again guys you have made me feel better already - I guess we all have days when we are in a bad mood - especially when we have to go to work :!:

Love to you all

Jamato and TJ

I can relate to the weight gain too - except I am a really funny shape - I just seem to be straight down starting from just under my boobs (if you know what I mean). I seem to have a bulge between my waist and the start of my boobs. It has to be as a result of the drugs. I would describe my shape at this moment in time as "teddy like"! Hope it's for good reason :) :)

Julie ... Don't worry about the AF-y type feelings. I had them from days 5 to 7, then they disappeared. Glad you're not working toooo hard.

Hi

Quick update.....
Hi to Jamato and TJ - hope you get good news on 5/5/05

I'm still attending for daily monitoring of mild OHSS (bloods and scans). Despite drinking like a fish my bloods aren't improving much and as they don't have a pre-tmt baseline they don't know exactly by how much it is raised from my norm. This is all very draining. TO top things off I bashed my knee last week on one of the exam. couches and over the past few days it has become increasingly more difficult to bend. I don't know if all my hormones are sending my body into meltdown but I can honestly say I can't remember ever feeling so much discomfort from so many areas of my body

Julie - being bloated isn't comfy is it. I too have felt like AF is about to start but this morning the clinic assured me it wouldn't be. Oh the joys! Glad you have good grade embies snuggling down too. Your mum sounds really excited doesn't she. Hope you have a good day tomorrow - I'm off for a lie down.

Bye for now
Maci x

p.s. sorry to be such a moaner just now
