New to IVF

Post by ella »

Hello, I'm new to IVF and to be honest I'm finding it all a bit scary, and I haven't even started my first cycle yet. I start my injections in December and after three and a half years of trying naturally with no luck at all, I feel excited, impatient, and terrified all in one go. However it's comforting knowing there are others out there in similar situations, as I have never known anyone else who has had IVF.
Any Advice?
Ella

Hello Ella

I'm glad you found the site - it's been a great help and support to me.

Only advise really, is the obvious stuff, try to stay calm and positive, relax as much as possible, don't get stressed, eat and sleep well and drink loads of water.

I've just had my second attempt, (it was frozen embryo transfer as first attempt failed in May due to polyps in the womb and hormone problems which I've since had an op for). To our total amazement we got a positive result on Monday and am pregnant. There's been a few others on this site that have been successful in the last few weeks to so 'KEEP THE FAITH' and very best of luck for December.

Love Sarah x

Hi Ella & Kirsty

Warning - I can feel the story building again.........
When I was 24, I had my left side removed and my remaining right side was no good as my tube is blocked and stuck down by endo so knew my only chance would be IVF. When we went for our 1st attempt in Feb this year I prodcued 9 good eggs and dh had good sperm so shocked when we had the dreaded phone call and told we had a failed fertilisation. It was only then, they recommended ICSI because dh sperm were not strong enough (dodgey neck or something) - I seemed cheated at first thinking maybe someone should have picked up on that before I wasted my 9 good eggs (and £4k)but got over that and all the negatives and went for ICSI in May. Got through the 2ww and had a negative blood test but at least got that far and for whatever reason was "not meant to be". We are going to have another attempt in new year so hopefully I will be there with you Kirsty, and good luck to you Ella, after years of trying, this is a step in the right direction, stay positive - Cheeky Girl Quote "good things come to those who wait".
God I'm sad, got to go after that.

lisa xxx
